The Guardian Angel Contract Postal Unit (CPU) announces recommended deadlines to customers planning to send letters and packages to military loved ones through APOs/FPOs. According to a 13 Oct 09 media release by the United States Postal Service (USPS), to ensure letters and packages reach APO/FPO destinations by Christmas, the USPS recommends patrons ship no later than the following dates:
Parcel Post® - 13 Nov 09
First Class® - 11 Dec 09
Priority Mail® - 11 Dec 09
Express Mail® - 18 Dec 09
Express Mail® not available for APO/FPO AE ZIP 093
First Class®/Priority Mail® 4 Dec 09 for APO/FPO AE ZIP 093
The staff of the Guardian Angel CPU recommends that patrons research restrictions when preparing to send to an APO/FPO. Many locations may have restrictions to comply with host country laws and regulations. Shipping to APO/FPO addresses also require the use of customs forms.
