COLORADO SPRINGS - The 40 Days or Life campaign is gearing up world wide. Beginning 28 Sep 11, pro-life supports will come together in prayer vigils around the world in the hopes of bringing an end to abortion. In Colorado Springs, CO, organizers such as Michele Mason are asking supporters to sign up for time to stand in vigil on the side walk outside Planned Parenthood abortion clinics.
In a note to pro-life supporters, Mason asked that they sign up through the Vigil Schedule link on the Colorado Springs 40 Days for Life web site so that participants know when others are praying. She stated, “Be assured that your name does not show up on the website, but it is important because other people can see that there will be another person praying at the same time.”
According to the 40 Days for Life web site, vigils are planned for over 301 locations. The web site also relates some of the successes of the campaign. For example, one video on the site relates how “The abortion facility in La Puente, California — a suburb in East L.A. where five 40 Days for Life campaigns have been conducted — has justclosed its doors and gone out of business!” The video also introduces a child who was saved from abortion and the miracle that one family experienced.
In the note to Colorado Springs participants, Mason asked, “Please leave any graphic or controversial signs at home. This is not a protest. We are there to pray and assist those who need help. Peaceful, loving signs are ok.” Mason also warns participants of the Colorado Bubble Law which states, “No person shall knowingly obstruct, detain, hinder, impede, or block another person's entry to or exit from a health care facility.” The law continues, “No person shall knowingly approach another person within 8ft of such person, unless such other person consents, for the purpose of passing a leaflet or handbill to, displaying a sign to, or engaging in oral protest, education, or counseling with such other person in the public way or sidewalk area within a radius of 100ft from any entrance door to a healthcare facility.”
Mason warns, “So…stay off Planned Parenthood property. You may pray on the sidewalk along Centennial Blvd. DO NOT go into the private driveways which lead into Planned Parenthood.” Mason also advises participants, “Many people spend their time there reading the Bible, praying the rosary, singing, or praying silently. Pray in whatever way the Holy Spirit leads you.”
The instruction sheet provided by Mason concludes, “We thank God for this wonderful opportunity to bring His love and mercy to women and men. There is such a need for us to show the love of God by being there and praying. You never know when your very presence will affect someone going into the abortion clinic or just driving by. I thank you for your commitment to help the unborn and their mothers and fathers. God bless you all.”
