Jesus said to His disciples, "But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear. Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it." (Matthew 13:16-17)
The good news of the Lord has been passed to us through the generations. Blessed were His disciples to witness. Blessed were they to be sent forth to share what they saw and heard. Blessed are the generations to hear and receive the news, but there are those who have closed their eyes and ears and do not comprehend that which He offers.
These are the sheep who have wandered, who are lost, who have been deceived by the world, but the faithful have the opportunity to be the light to help gather them in. This is not done through force or oppression, for as the shepherd swings his staff, the sheep will scatter and become vulnerable to the wolves. We should also consider that He gave us free will to give meaning to our choice, but if we force another in faith, what meaning, then, is given to their choice?
Neither can we invite those who are lost through judgment and condemnation, for His desire is not to condemn the world, but to save it (John 3:17). It is best done by the example of how we live (John 3:21), and should we be asked for why we live as we do, we should be ready to give reason for our hope in Him (1 Peter 3:14). As the faithful live by the light, there will be those in the darkness who will drawn to see.
Blessed are those who live by His Word, for His light shall be seen through them.
