We wait, hope and pray for the life hereafter. We wait for the time we may be with our Lord. We hope that he will accept us, and we pray for Him to forgive the sins that so disappoint Him.
The time we have here is but a small moment, but we must not forget it is part of God's plan. We must be purposeful in how we spend this precious time God has given us.
Time is forever and yet, it is gone as each second passes. Each moment is a step in what we have done or what we have failed to do.
God has given us a time to work and a time to rest. He has given us moments of joy and moments of sadness. He has given us moments of pleasure and of pain. He has given us moments to help others and moments to tend to ourselves. What we do with these moments, He has given the choice to us.
To what purpose do we use the time our Lord has given us? Do we spend the time for ourselves, for others or for His work?
We must tend to ourselves so that we are healthy, in good spirit and capable to be an active member of God's community. We must care for ourselves so that we are available to care for others when they are in need. Is it is by being alive to our faith, capable in mind and spirit that we are able to do for others, that we are able to do His work, that we are able to be strong in our faith.
Time is forever, but our time here; our time to demonstrate our faith, our time to demonstrate our love for Him, our time to demonstrate our love for one another, our time to do His work; our time for whatever we do is limited. At some day, some hour, some moment; it will end.
We wait for the moment, yet, there is time between now and then. To what purpose do we put this time? To what balance do we give to tending to ourselves, tending to others and tending to our faith? He has told us in His words and words He has communicated through the prophets. Do we hear? Do we understand?
He has given us this time. He has given us the choice of how we use this time. Once we use it, it is gone forever. If we use our time for the wrong purpose, it is wasted, lost forever, an eternal mark in our past. If it is used for His purpose, it becomes a bright light, illuminating our waiting, illuminating our desire to join our Lord in His Love and His grace.
And if we spend our time only for our purpose, how can we ever hope that we receive the opportunity to join in the community, the Love, the joy and the grace of God? If we have no hope of knowing His grace, His peace, His Love and His kingdom; what hope is there? If there is no hope, there is no purpose, time is meaningless. If time is meaningless, we are meaningless. Our purpose, our hope, then, is how we use our time, how we use the gifts He has given us to serve in the faith and purpose of the Lord. All else leads us to a meaningless death.
