Many blessings to all,

Many a year has passed since a man from Galilee walked the country side teaching the Word of God through parables. Many a year has passed since Apostles followed the Son of Man as He travelled the land. Many a year has passed since Christ the King, suffered, died and was buried in sacrifice of our sins. Many a year has passed since He rose to conquer death so that those who believe in Him shall not perish, but will have ever lasting life.

Some of us have heard the story of Jesus from our birth. For others, the word of a friend, a loved one, or perhaps a stranger may have been the one to reveal how Jesus is in all of our lives. Some have always felt the Lord, others have done all they can to deny the Lord, yet, one day they feel Him knocking at their heart.

As we feel Jesus near to us, as we come to feel His love, as we come to understand the sacrifice He made for us that we might be saved, we might be tempted to wonder, how is it that anyone could have plotted against him? We might be tempted to wonder, how is it Judas could have betrayed Him. We might be tempted to wonder, how is it that anyone could judge Him?

We might also be tempted to wonder how is it that anyone could have scourged Him? We might be tempted to wonder, how is it crowds could have called to crucify him? We might be tempted to wonder, how is it that anyone could have nailed Him to a cross? We might be tempted to wonder, how could anyone watch Him suffer on the cross? We might be tempted to wonder, how is it that anyone could stand and taunt Him? We might be tempted to wonder, how is it that anyone could spear His side? We might be tempted to wonder, how is it that anyone could watch Him die?

We might be tempted to wonder, how is it that anyone could deny Him, yet, we have all done just that through our sin. It might be easy for us to look back and judge, but can we truly say what we would have done if we were there? Would we have betrayed Him for 30 pieces of silver? Would we have denied Him before the cock crowed thrice? Would we have tried to entrap Him? Would we have stood by and do nothing as He processed by us, bleeding, carrying a cross; the cross of our salvation?

He knew what would happen when for us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven by the power of the Holy Spirit and was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. He knew that for our sake he would be crucified under Pontius Pilate, that he would suffer, die and be buried. He knew and told those who would listen, though they did not understand, that he would be raised on the third day in fulfillment of the Scriptures. He knew what would happen when He told those who broke bread with Him that He was in the Father and the Father was in Him.

We might be tempted to judge those who plotted against him. We might be tempted to judge those who betrayed Him. We might be tempted to judge those who did nothing to stop the tragedy which unfolded. We might be tempted to judge those who crucified him, but, if we are honest, do we know what we would have done if we were in the crowd?

It is possible that we would have been one of the followers who weeped. It is also possible that we would have been one of those who yelled, “Crucify Him,” failing to believe, He is truly the Son of God. We often do not know what we would do until we are there. We cannot stop ourselves from sin now, could we have stopped ourselves from sin then?

It is not ours to judge. It was prophesied to happen and the prophecy was fulfilled. It may cause us sadness, it may bring a tear to our heart; and well it should, but it is those few moments of history that gave us hope for eternity. It is those few moments that if we truly ponder, we see the love of our Lord for each and every child of His creation. Praise be the Lord.

May the Lord be with you,
Prayer Soldier
