Many blessings to all,
As we face challenges in our lives, it is natural for us to seek the help of God. In prayer, we present our petitions, often times, asking to be relieved of that which faces us. We look to God to be our benefactor, the caretaker of our fortune, our deliverer from misfortune.
We see in scripture where God has been the deliverer of man, blessing His children with great fortune, but we also see many examples of the persecution of the faithful. We see the stories of Noah, Abraham, Job, Moses, David and the Apostles. We see the stories of kings and peasants, the rich and the poor, those with strength and prowess and those who are sick and the lame.
It might cause us to ask why God grants great fortune to some and allows such hardships for others. In the grace of the plan of God, what we face is for a reason we often do not know. At the time of challenge we may not understand the test or the blessing which may come of it, but we should never forget the gifts He has given us to endure.
When we are challenged, it is right to ask God for His help and His blessings, but in doing so, we should remember first to ask for His help to do His will. We should pray less for our own fortune and seek that He grants us first the blessing to bring good fortune to others. Through prayer, we are able to seek His guidance to help care for His sheep.
A simple prayer: Dear Lord, we pray for Your guidance in how we may use the gifts with which you have blessed us so that we may perform Your will.
A simple prayer: Dear Lord, we pray for Your guidance as to how we may help those around us in need.
A simple prayer: Dear Lord, we pray that where we find need that You help us do Your will to address that need.
A simple prayer: Dear Lord, where we see that which drives the desperation of man, grant us the wisdom and ability to remove that desperation.
A simple prayer: Dear Lord, help us to recognize how we can use the gifts you grant us to help others whether the need is great or small.
A simple prayer: Dear Lord, help us to remember it is better for us to offer our the gifts you grant us in selfless care for others than to seek our own fortune in selfishness.
A simple prayer: Dear Lord, help us to be an example of Your love.
Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” He then said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” (Jesus) said to him, “Feed my sheep.” (John21-15-17)
May the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
