“Thus the total number of generations from Abraham to David is fourteen generations; from David to the Babylonian exile, fourteen generations; from the Babylonian exile to the Messiah, fourteen generations.” (Matthew 1:17)
Our God the Father is, was and ever shall be; but in the passing of the generations of His children, He came down from heaven to be born of the blessed Virgin Mary so that He may walk among man. For what purpose would He do this if it was not to instruct us, to teach us of the Word, to help us understand His commandments? For generations He spoke through the prophets, the holy ones, the chosen ones, the anointed ones.
With each new child, descendants of His first creation, a life was pursued and choices were made. Some matured to heed the call of their God while others denied their Creator. The poor would cry out, the oppressed would ask for deliverance; many a drama would play out as men and women would wrestle with the good and evil in their souls.
Some would listen to the prophets while others would persecute them. In the sin of man, justice would be trampled, not even those in whom God found favor could free themselves completely from sin. In love He walked among us, to guide us, to teach us, to inspire us, to challenge us, to heal us for generations to come. If He only laid His hands to heal the sick, to make the lame walk, to make the deaf hear, to grant the blind sight; would the tribes of the world seek to learn and understand His will?
It was for the sins of man that He suffered and died; it was for the salvation of man that He rose to prepare our way. Blessed are we for what He has done for us. As we progress from day to day, the choices of each moment are ours; the choice to follow Him or deny Him; the good news is ours if we but turn to Him. Let us seek Him in prayer, for as we invite Him into our hearts, so do we invite peace, happiness and love. Praise be the Lord.
May the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
