The Light Sent by God
Scripture:
Arise, be enlightened, O Jerusalem: for your light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold darkness shall cover the earth, and a mist the people: but the Lord shall arise upon you, and his glory shall be seen upon you. And the Gentiles shall walk in your light, and kings in the brightness of your rising. Lift up your eyes round about, and see: all these are gathered together, they are come to you: your sons shall come from afar, and your daughters shall rise up at your side. Then shall you see, and abound, and your heart shall wonder and be enlarged, when the multitude of the sea shall be converted to you, the strength of the Gentiles shall come to you. The multitude of camels shall cover you, the dromedaries of Madian and Epha: all they from Saba shall come, bringing gold and frankincense: and showing forth praise to the Lord. (Isaiah 60:1-6)
If yet you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me towards you: How that, according to revelation, the mystery has been made known to me. Which in other generations was not known to the sons of men, as it is now revealed to his holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit: That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs and of the same body: and co-partners of his promise in Christ Jesus, by the gospel. (Ephisians 3:2-3a, 5-6)
When Jesus therefore was born in Bethlehem of Juda, in the days of king Herod, behold, there came wise men from the East to Jerusalem, saying: Where is he that is born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the East, and are come to adore him. And king Herod hearing this, was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And assembling together all the chief priests and the scribes of the people, he inquired of them where Christ should be born. But they said to him: In Bethlehem of Juda. For so it is written by the prophet: And you Bethlehem the land of Juda are not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of you shall come forth the captain that shall rule my people Israel.
Then Herod, privately calling the wise men learned diligently of them the time of the star which appeared to them; And sending them into Bethlehem, said: Go and diligently inquire after the child, and when you have found him, bring me word again, that I also may come and adore him. Who having heard the king, went their way; and behold the star which they had seen in the East, went before them, until it came and stood over where the child was. And seeing the star they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And entering into the house, they found the child with Mary his mother, and falling down they adored him: and opening their treasures, they offered him gifts; gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having received an answer in sleep that they should not return to Herod, they went back another way into their country. (Matthew 2:1-12)
Reflection:
God created the light so that from the light, the children of His creation would see all that was within the light. He created the heavens and the earth and the light revealed the beauty of His creation, but the Lord desired His children to see truth beyond the world, so He sent the light of heaven to be the true light of the world and the beacon to heaven.
The light of the world stood before the chosen people, declaring the truth not just for the shining city, but for all the children of His creation. Those who choose to live in the darkness will remain in the darkness, but those who seek the light will find the light, for He will not abandon those who believe in Him, the source of the light.
There will be those who will attempt to hide the light and lure the children of His creation to darkness, but the light of the Lord is a beacon which cannot be hidden from those who wish to see. The light of the Lord is so brilliant that even the blind may see while those who claim they see will find themselves blind, not because they cannot see what is in the world, but because they choose not to see the truth of the Word.
Blessed are the children who seek the light, for they will share the light, drawing tribes and nations into its brilliance and unto the glory of the Lord. The day will come where the darkness will be removed by the light and the children of His creation will rejoice for they will be free of the pain and sorrow which the darkness yields. All the voices of the blessed children of His creation will flock to the light, presenting great thanks in prayer and the song of praise to the Most High.
What we see is the light, what we hear is the Word and the Word is light to the soul. The Word was revealed to the prophets, the Word was brought to chosen ones through the messages of angels; but so that all might understand, the Word was made flesh so that all might hear, so that all might see, so that all might understand the truth. What was revealed to the Apostles has been passed to the generations through those who arose to the challenge of apostolic succession.
Blessed are the children of His creation for He seeks to reveal to each one what awaits the faithful, those who believe in Him. Blessed are we for the salvation offered to all the children, all the tribes and all the nations. A star was lit for the wise to follow, to guide the way to a much greater light, an eternal light. The light for all is the One who came down from heaven to become man; to walk with man, woman and child to give them the truth of salvation; a light brilliant with wisdom and love.
In the land of days past there were those consumed by evil who did not understand the light, who feared the light, who had evil designs to extinguish the light before its brightness could ever be shown; but no evil can hide the light sent by God for the light is pure, radiant and eternal. The darkness can only exist in the absence of light, but the light conquered the darkness with the death and resurrection of the light. And so it was come to past that a child was born and the lowly and kings came from a far to bow before Him.
Blessed are those who are born to families who seek the light, but all should remain vigilant lest they be lured to the darkness. Blessed are those who have not known the light, but are drawn to the light for they will find the splendor of the love of the Lord. Blessed are those who have left the light, but have returned in repentance, for they know the emptiness of the darkness and the despair of existence without the warmth of the love of the Lord. Blessed are those who share the light for they will receive many fold for what they give.
May the peace and blessings of the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
