Will We Go Where He Guides Us?
Scripture:
And the Lord said to Abram: Go forth out of your country, and from your kindred, and out of the house of your father, and come into the land which I shall show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and magnify your name, and you shall be blessed. I will bless them that bless you, and curse them that curse you, and in you shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. So Abram went out as the Lord had commanded him, and Lot went with him. (Genesis 12:1-4)
Be not ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but labor with the gospel, according to the power of God who has delivered us and called us by his holy calling, not according to our own works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the times of the world: But is now made manifest by the illumination of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has destroyed death and has brought to light life and incorruption by the gospel. (2 Timothy 1:8-10)
And after six days Jesus took unto him Peter and James, and John his brother, and brings them up into a high mountain apart: and he was transfigured before them. And his face did shine as the sun: and his garments became white as snow. And behold there appeared to them Moses and Elias talking with him. And Peter answering, said to Jesus: Lord, it is good for us to be here: if you will, let us make here three tabernacles, one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. And as he was yet speaking, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them. And lo a voice out of the cloud, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased: hear him. And the disciples hearing fell upon their face, and were very much afraid. And Jesus came and touched them: and said to them: Arise, and fear not. And they lifting up their eyes, saw no one, but only Jesus. And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying: Tell the vision to no man, till the Son of man be risen from the dead. (Matthew 17:1-9)
Reflection:
If we heard His voice, would we follow what He calls us to do? If we were told only to go forth, but not what would come, would we leave our comfort to do His work? Would we give our legs to Him and ask Him to guide them to where they should walk? Would we give our hands to Him and ask Him to guide them in what they should do? Each day His voice calls us to follow His commandments to love. Each day He calls us to be the servant of others. If we do these things, He does not promise our path will be easy, but He promises to be with us each step as we walk our journey.
In prayer, we should listen for His voice so that we may find the blessings of the paths which He asks us to walk. If we do not understand, then, we must pray for understanding. If we fear, we must ask that our fears be set aside. If we lack strength, we must ask for strength. He will not deny us when we accept His calling.
As the generations have passed, the way of the evil one is to sow division and confusion so that the children of His creation shall argue between one another. The evil one seeks to silence sharing of the Word and to promote the ways of the world. He tempts one to lay judgment upon another and for each to fear for their position and who will accept them. The evil one does this so the faithful will be silenced from speaking of and giving praise to the One who died for them. Even in lands where their forefathers died for the right to freely give praise, the children of His creation accept the silencing of the Word in fear of persecution for what they speak.
Blessed are those who have given their position within this world so that they may have a place within His kingdom. Blessed are those who will not be silenced in the face of persecution, for through their courage, they preserve the right of their children and the children of their children to speak of Him and to share the blessings of His Word. Blessed are those who gather together to share in His commandments and to praise Him in prayer. No matter the pains and persecutions of this world, through their faith and belief in Him, they shall share in the blessings of His eternal love and the life He purchased for them upon the cross.
In prayer, we should seek Him. With joined hands, we should gather together to praise His name. For those who would persecute the faithful, we should we should pray that through us, the persecutors may see His light. In prayer, we should ask that He guides us in how we may share the gospel so that all might hear His Word and receive the blessings of His love and peace.
Those whom He asked to follow Him were blessed to see great miracles and the holiness which surrounded Him. Those who walked in the days He walked also saw, but many did not comprehend who was before them. Even His disciples were often bewildered in their understanding, yet, they knew by their seeing the holiness which was in their presence.
One might ask, then, how is it that even those who saw and touched Him might continue to sin? It is through our weakness that we find moments where we do what we later regret. Blessed are those who seek Him, for the day will come where the faithful will no longer be tempted by the ways of the world, for the death and resurrection of the One purchased eternal life for all who seek His forgiveness. Through Him is the path to cleanse ourselves of the world so that we may know the blessings of His kingdom.
May the peace and blessings of the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
