Driving in Colorado Springs...Possible Death Sentence?

Local News Well, time for another rant. For the past several days I have noticed an alarming trend in the streets of Colorado Springs, CO. No matter which vehicle I am in, my Jeep or Motorcycle, someone tries to run me down. It is as if I have a sign on my back that says please kill me. I only bring this up to prove a point. Angels exist. I really want to thank my Guardian Angels for doing such a great job, as I am unfortunately becoming more and more aware of.

The driving skills of Coloradians, or more directly Colorado Springs Drivers, only seem to be getting worse. I have decided that the problem is heathens. I mean we have the 10 Commandments for Motorists handed down and everyone goes crazy. Somebody get these folks to church!

Saturday I was leaving the house and this moron flying through our residential neighborhood at about 50 MPH (twice the legal speed limit) passes me. Now, I had been paying attention (and my wife would agree), and I still did not see him until he was right next to me. This isn’t a wide road and he almost hit another car parked on the side of the road.

Sunday, my dad and I were on our way to a bike fest downtown and we came upon an on-ramp. I moved over (looked first) to allow merging traffic. There were only 2 cars coming on, and the road we were on was clear except dad and me. I looked in my mirror again and saw my dad get over. As I looked to my mirror again I noticed a car not even 1 foot from me. I freaked out. Did I cut them off? When we got to the next light I asked my dad what happened. He said the car almost took him out before he got over, when he got in the left lane, they almost hit him again and nearly got me too.

Monday, I had gone to help my wife who had broken down. As we were going home, (of course, I was again on the bike) she followed me. We are stopped at a light; she is maybe a foot or two from me to the rear. This car whips around her and tries to pull back into line right in front of my wife. One problem, I already occupied that position. She came so close to hitting me that I was able to kick her car. I don’t even know what she was thinking. Had I not been there she would have hit my wife. Had she hit me, she still would have hit my wife at the angle she attempted.

I almost called a cab this morning to go to work. After all this, I decided I should pay tribute to my angels. I know they are there protecting me, but it seems I take them for granted every once in awhile. They always let me know when I forget, I just wish sometimes they could be a little more subtle.

Just thought I would add an update. About 10 minutes after I posted this news article, I got word that one of the guys at work would be in late. He was riding his motorcycle to work when he was hit by a car. I am still unsure of his condition, but sounds like he will be alright. I’ll post more later. Great job Colorado Springs!

I just wanna thank my Angels again. While they did make sure to let me know there was imminent danger before stopping it, they did stop me from being hurt.

Please pray for Bryan.
