drbonebrake writes "During Respect Life Month, the Respect Life Ministry of St. Patrick's Parish of Colorado Springs, Colorado, has worked to support a variety of pro-life efforts such as the Roses for Life project, a prayer chain in front of Planned Parenthood and a Diocesan Chastity Rally at St. Dominic's. The rally was attended by more than 700 youth and their families.
One of the ministry organizers is Cleta Jasper who is also a part of Pikes Peak Citizens for Life, a pro-life, non-profit, non-denominational, all volunteer organization. Cleta related, “I've been privileged to be a part of the pro-life movement since 1973.”
During an explanation to St. Patrick's parishioners as to the purposes to which donations, such as those made through the Roses for Life project, are used, Cleta said, “We purchase billboard space – 54 of them this past year. We fund radio ads targeting our youth – 800 of them this past year. We have a continuous TV ad on the military channel at Ft. Carson. Our pro-life display booth has been at 14 events this past year. Our 'baby booth' table has been at the Citadel Mall three Saturdays in the spring and in the fall. We have an outstanding power point presentation for both youth groups and adults – given to 19 different youth groups this past year, including St. Patrick’s youth, with more being arranged for the coming year. Several thousand 12-week 'soft-touch babies' have been given to people of all ages at public events and during presentations this past year. Reactions have been overwhelmingly positive.”
Cleta further explained that donations to pro-life programs are “more than a donation – it’s an investment in life!” She also noted that pro-life donations “promote God's greatest gift - LIFE!”
The St. Patrick's Respect Life Ministry has also invited parishioners to support the Virtue Media efforts to air pro-life commercials during late December. The commercials which will be part of the campaign can be viewed at http://www.virtuemedia.org.
The Respect Life Ministry is also soliciting “adoptive” parents to pray for pre-born children. The ministry also supports a Prayer Vigil on the 3rd Friday of every month from 12-3pm in front of Planned Parenthood.
