Anonymous writes "ATLANTA — A task force of the Presbyterian Church USA, headquartered in Atlanta, last week urged unity in its ranks and continuity in church policy regarding gay clergy, the Houston Chronicle reported.
The report by the Theological Task Force on Peace, Unity, & Purity of the Church said the denomination should continue its policy of limiting ordination to those who maintain “chastity in singleness” and “fidelity in marriage between a man and a woman,” according to the newspaper. “That does not change, and that has not been, or watered down,” Rev. Jack Haberer, senior pastor of Clear Lake Presbyterian Church in Texas, told the Chronicle. “At a time when a lot of people are saying we are two denominations — liberals on one side and conservatives on the other side — we have forged a serious summary of our theology that we consider to be what holds us together,” Haberer said."
