drbonebrake writes " COLORADO SPRINGS – As pro-life supporters prepared for the Fall 2011 40 Days for Life Campaign, news from a side walk announced that another baby has been saved. Many who enter Planned Parenthood abortion clinics do so because they feel they have no other options or because society has conditioned them to ignore alternatives. The presence of someone outside of Planned Parenthood abortion clinics, however, can give those considering abortion as a solution for their child a moment to reconsider.
On 22 Sep, such a moment was experienced by a side walk counselor near the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood abortion clinic at 3480 Centennial Blvd. According to an email report, a car leaving the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic stopped to talk with the counselor. As conversation progressed, it was revealed that the young couple had made an appointment for an abortion for the coming week. The driver commented, “I just felt it was wrong.” Financial difficulties were apparently at root of the decision to abort.
The side walk counselor provided information about available resources, such as pregnancy centers, to provide assistance. The couple accepted the information and literature presented by the side walk counselor as well as the offer to pray. Before the couple drove away, the driver remarked, “He (God) put you guys here to talk to us so we wouldn't do this!”
Pro-life supporters can rejoice that a life was saved, but with so many children scheduled to die at the hands of Planned Parenthood abortionists, there is much work to be done. Campaigns, such as 40 Days for Life, are dedicated to growing a respect for life within our society. When pro-life efforts are successful, though, the work of pro-life supports is not over. Organizations, such as the Colorado Springs based LifeNetwork seek to provide parenthood education and assistance to young mothers and families facing financial challenges. For this work to be successful, however, volunteers and donations are needed.
LifeNetwork recently reported that as its LifeSteps outreach and other assistance efforts continues to grow, the need for supplies also grows. In an email circulated to supporters, it was noted that LifeNetwork was handing out record amounts of milk-based formula and that other supplies are dangerously low. The items of greatest need were identified as size 4 and 5 diapers, milk-based formula, winter clothing (sizes 18-24 months), maternity clothes, and baby wipes. Life Network accepts donations via their web site or at either of their Colorado Springs locations at 3700 Galley Rd, 80909 or 2925 King St, 80904.
