Pondering a rainbow in the morning.

As I traveled to work this morning, the sky was over cast with a drizzling mixture of mist and rain. The coolness and the turning leaves was a clear sign of the waning summer. I find the changes of season so invigorating. The season's of God's creation keeps variety in our lives.

What was so stunning for me today was the contrast of the overcast sky and the sudden appearance of a rainbow. While I have seen many rainbows, I have never seen one that appeared so close. As I drove, I saw the rainbow descend on top of a nearby hill. As I continued on my journey, it shifted to descend in a green space. As I came over a hill, the clouds parted and the sun spot lighted the space where the rainbow ended. I can't possibly paint with mere words the beauty I saw.

I know the pragmatist will say that all I witnessed was a simple meteorological event. Rainbows appear regularly, the sun peeks through the clouds from hour to hour, from minute to minute as the seconds pass by. The sun, clouds, rainbows, trees and grass are all simple forms of nature. They will say what I witnessed was nothing miraculous at all, but I ponder that even the simplest of events are miraculous gifts of God.

It was a wonderful way to start off the day. A small prayer I must pray to thank God for the gift He has given me this morn of the clouds, rain, mist, trees, grass and all the colors of the rainbow. A simple gift, but think for a moment of all the creation which was combined to present my senses with all that filled them.
