Many blessings to all,
If we hear the words – hot lips – today, we might think of the passionate kiss of lovers. We might think of words found on candy hearts that we often see around the day for Valentines. For Isaiah, the words held a much different meaning as he saw the Lord on a high and lofty throne and remarked, “Woe is me, I am doomed. For I am a man of unclean lips, living among a people of unclean lips; yet my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!” Isaiah 6:5
In the presence of the Lord, Isaiah was suddenly faced with his sin and the sin of the world around him. He feared condemnation for what he had done, yet, in that moment, the mercy and forgiveness of the Lord was revealed to Isaiah as a seraphim flew to him, holding an ember which he had taken with tongs from the altar. The seraphim touched the mouth of Isaiah with the ember and said, “See, now that this has touched your lips, your wickedness is removed, your sin purged.“ Isaiah 6:6-7.
Isaiah was not injured, but cleansed and filled with the Holy Spirit. As he heard the voice of the Lord, Isaiah responded to the call and sought to do His will. While sin separates us from the Lord, the forgiveness of God is our salvation and allows us to return to the Lord as well as do the work of the Lord.
Blessed, then, are those who walk in sin, for the hand of God is extended to them. The Lord waits patiently outside their heart. Blessed is the most devout atheist, for despite their denial of the very existence of God, He extends His grace to them and waits patiently outside their heart, waiting that they may invite Him in so they may join in the fullness of the Lord.
Take for example the life of Paul, who finds himself an apostle of Jesus despite the actions of Paul to persecute the church of God. In a letter to the Corinthians, Paul explains, “For I am the least of the apostles, not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me has not been ineffective.” 1 Corinthians 15:9-10
Blessed, then, is the sinner, the blasphemer, those who would turn their back on God; for once they see the depth of the emptiness that awaits, they still will find Jesus waiting patiently outside their heart. They will find the grace of God, the forgiveness of the Lord. They still have hope of eternal life in the kingdom of the Lord.
Blessed, then, are we all for there is no soul beyond salvation unless we do not seek it. No greater gift have we been given than the sacrifice Jesus made for our sins. The Lord rejoices in the return of every soul to the light of the Lord.
May the Lord be with you,
Prayer Soldier
