Many blessings to all,
Despite all we see challenging our country, we should feel blessed by the many who offer charity to others. Despite the economy and conditions in our society, there are so many who give of themselves in so many ways. Some give money, others give time, others give of their skills. Blessed are those who find ways to give charity and service to others.
Jesus said, “I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.“ (John 13:34-35) Blessed, then, are those who serve those around them. They reveal themselves to be disciples of Jesus, blessed children of God.
What, then, of those who absorb themselves in selfishness? They are revealed in what they do and what they fail to do. Each day, though, God has given us the choice to change what we chose to be. Despite what we have done, God continually calls us to understand what can be accomplished through living His Word. We may not change all in one day. It may take many small steps. It could start with a single act of kindness that leads to another and suddenly we find ourselves understanding the blessings we bring through love and charity for those about us.
