The Blessing of His Healing
Scripture:
Then he went down, and washed in the Jordan seven times, according to the word of the man of God; and his flesh was restored, like the flesh of a little child: and he was made clean. And returning to the man of God, with all his train, he came, and stood before him, and said: In truth, I know there is no other God, in all the earth, but only in Israel: I beseech you, therefore, take a blessing of your servant. But he answered: As the Lord lives, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And when he pressed him, he still refused. And Naaman said: As you will: but I beseech you, grant to me, your servant, to take from hence the burden of two mules of earth: for your servant will not henceforth offer holocaust, or victim, to other gods, but to the Lord. (2 Kings 5:14-17)
Be mindful that the Lord Jesus Christ is risen again from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my gospel: Wherein I labor even unto bonds, as an evildoer. But the word of God is not bound. Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with heavenly glory. A faithful saying: for if we be dead with him, we shall live also with him. If we suffer, we shall also reign with him. If we deny him, he will also deny us. If we believe not, he continues faithful, he cannot deny himself. (2 Timothy 2:8-13)
And it came to pass, as he was going to Jerusalem, he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain town, there met him ten men that were lepers, who stood afar off. And lifted up their voice, saying: Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. Whom when he saw, he said: Go, show yourselves to the priests. And it came to pass, as they went, they were made clean. And one of them, when he saw that he was made clean, went back, with a loud voice glorifying God. And he fell on his face before his feet, giving thanks. And this was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering, said: Were not ten made clean? And where are the nine? There is no one found to return and give glory to God, but this stranger. And he said to him: Arise, go your way; for your faith has made you whole. (Luke 17:11-19)
Reflection:
As the days pass, the health of our bodies ebb and flow and so does the health of our soul. Just as the body may suffer from disease, the soul may suffer from the infections of the world. As the body may be healed with care, so too may the soul be healed through prayer. He reaches out with His healing hand in the answer to prayer to heal bodies and to heal souls. Blessed are those who receive His healing and blessed are those who come to Him in thanks and praise for the answer to their prayers.
In times of plenty and times of good health, we should remember our blessings and offer prayers in thanks and praise. When we are faced with times of tribulation, He hears our prayers and answers our needs. Blessed are those who feel Him working in their lives and remember to offer prayers of thanks and praise.
Through our sin, we invite ill into our souls, but through His mercy, we may be healed. He offers healing to the contrite and those who seek Him. If we turn away from Him, He will allow us to make the choice to walk away, but He will also allow us to turn back to Him. We are blessed with the mercy of our Lord, for despite our sin, His hand of forgiveness is extended to all who will open their hearts to Him.
He is our God, a God of love, and He listens to our cries for help and mercy. We do not always understand His answer in the moment, for the healing He offers does not always appear as a miracle for all to witness, for at times our healing comes slowly as our heart is willing to respond. All who are delivered from their challenge rejoice in the blessings of fortune, but not all recognize the hand which delivered them and to whom they should be thankful. Blessed are those who respond to His compassion in thanks and praise for the power of his mercy and the power of His forgiveness of sins.
May the peace and blessings of the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
