The Vigil for the Lord:
At the end of four hundred and thirty years, on this very date, all the armies of the LORD left the land of Egypt. This was a night of vigil for the LORD, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt; so on this night all Israelites must keep a vigil for the LORD throughout their generations. (Exodus 12:41-42)
Not all understand the value of freedom, but those who have lived under oppression and have struggled for their liberty understand its preciousness. The Lord heard the cry of His people and delivered them from their oppressors to the blessings of the promised land.
As He did for them, He promised from upon the cross to do for all who believe in Him. He hears the cry of those who are oppressed by sin and by those who live by sin. He hears all the cries of the poor and suffering. He will not ignore them, but will respond to their prayers and gather them into His kingdom where no evil shall be allowed to follow. Let us, then, keep our vigil for the Lord and the day He calls us to the promise of His kingdom.
Blessed are those who cry out to Him, for they shall receive His forgiveness and compassion.
