How might I describe the feeling of the Holy Spirit? Perhaps it is not describable at all. With it, we feel fulfilled. Without it, we are empty. With it, we feel God's Love. Without it, we feel lost. With it, we are empowered with God's gifts. Without it, we are without hope.

We must pray that God will send out His spirit, that through the Holy Spirit, we will understand His will for us and what we should do to serve His will.

Lord, fill me with Your spirit that I may serve Your will.

Lord, fill me with Your spirit that I may resist temptation.

Lord, fill me with Your spirit that I may be in communion with Your kingdom.

Lord, fill me with Your spirit that I may know the feeling of Your Love.

Lord, fill me with Your spirit that I may know the hope I may have through Your mercy and forgiveness.

Amen

The holy spirit is God's active force that is invisible and is only given to those "obeying him as ruler."(Acts 5:32) It is not part of a trinity. The word spirit come from the Greek pneu´ma (spirit) comes from pne´o, meaning “breathe or blow,” and the Hebrew ru´ach (spirit) is believed to come from a root having the same meaning. Ru´ach and pneu´ma, then, basically mean “breath” but have extended meanings beyond that basic sense, such as at Habakkuk 2:19, which says: "Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath (Hebrew ru´ach ) at all in the midst of it."(King James Bible)

And concerning the "image" that the "wild beast" made, Revelation 13:15 says that "And there was granted it to give breath (Greek, pneu´ma; Latin, spi´ri·tum) to the image of the wild beast, so that the image of the wild beast should both speak and cause to be killed all those who would not in any way worship the image of the wild beast."

These Hebrew and Greek words can also mean wind; the vital force in living creatures; one’s spirit; spirit persons, including God and his angelic creatures; and God’s active force, or holy spirit. All these meanings have something in common: They all refer to that which is invisible to human sight and which gives evidence of force in motion. Such invisible force is capable of producing visible effects.

Jesus, on the night before his death, told his eleven faithful apostles, that his Father would send a "helper" after his resurrection, saying: "But the helper,(Greek parakletos) the holy spirit,(Greek ho hagios pneuma) which the Father will send in my name, that one will teach you all things and bring back to your minds all the things I told you."(John 14:26) Thus, the holy spirit is a "helper" to those who are willing to obey it's leadings from God.

Some Bibles render parakletos as "comforter" or "advocate". In extra-Biblical Greek literature that term was applied to a person who served as “a legal adviser or helper or advocate in the relevant court.” But in the Bible the word “seems to have the broad and general sense of ‘helper.”’ (Theological Dictionary of the New Testament, edited by G. Friedrich, Vol. V, pp. 803, 804) While some Bible versions translate the word as “Comforter,” “Advocate” or “Counselor,” many modern Bible translations render pa·ra´kle·tos as “helper.”

Seems a very well researched response. While I have heard the Holy Spirit explained in a similar light, I have not heard a claim that it was not part of the "Holy Trinity."

I was under the impression that most (if not all) Christian religions believed in the Trinity...am I wrong? Is this a new school of thought?

The Trinity is not named in the Bible directly, but consider the following scripture.

Mathew 28:19-20

"Then Jesus approached and said to them, "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.""

2 Corinthians 13:11-13

"Finally, brothers, rejoice. Mend your ways, encourage one another, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the holy ones greet you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the holy Spirit be with all of you."
