The Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) is doing live coverage of the Annual March for Life in Washington D.C. As I watched a bit of it this morning, the thought occured to me that our culture puts a double standard on men. Our culture generally places a negative stigma on dead-beat dads doing nothing to support children they have fathered, and rightfully so. But switch the topic to abortion for a moment. If you happen to be a male who engages in debate against abortion, you're likely to hear the line, "It's the woman's body and her choice, you have no right to say anything." But if that's true, why should any male who has no say in whether an unborn child they've fathered lives or dies be responsible for caring for that child if it is allowed to live? The pro-choice and feminist movements want it both ways. They want absolute autonomy with what they do "with their bodies" during pregnancy, but they demand fathers to own their responsibility after the birth (even if it's only in the form of child support payments). That's a ridiculous double standard.

And if men are allowed no say in this issue, why did a Supreme Court made up of all men decide thirty-three years ago that women were allowed to destroy a life in their bodies? Are men only allowed a say when they are in favor of abortion and happen to have power? If this shows anything, it shows that pro-choicers will do anything to win the argument, even contradicting their own principles without any apology.

Everyone pray this week. Pray that the phrase "liberty and justice for all" would have real meaning again. God bless.
