Christ the Savior is Born
Just before Jesus was to be born, Emperor Augustus decided he wanted to know how many people lived under his control. So he told all the people to go back to their home towns to be counted. Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem. While they were there, the time came for Mary to deliver Jesus. She wrapped him in bands of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Some distance away, there were shepherds watching their sheep in a large field. Suddenly an angel appeared to them and said, "Do not be afraid; for see - I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people; to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord." The shepherds asked how to find the Savior. The angel told them they would find a baby lying in a manger. Then suddenly a large group of angels appeared, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!" --Based on Luke 2:1-14
