A man who doesn't pray is like a man in a desert who turns away from an oasis. Prayer is an essential part of the Christian life. Daily contact with God keeps us strong in faith and stronger against temptation.
If God seems distant or absent during prayer, it doesn't mean that He's not there or that you've necessarily done something wrong. It's His invitation for you to seek Him with all your heart. To paraphrase C.S. Lewis, it is the moments when God seems to have disappeared, and yet we still want to do His will, when we grow the most into the kind of people He wants us to be.
Find a way to pray that works for you. It can be sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, or all of them. You can pray spontaneously, or use traditional written prayers. The first rule of prayer happens to be Nike's slogan: Just do it.
