We are God's hands in this world. Though He may shape our world in many ways without our help, He has given us the freewill to exist in and mold His creation. He has given us these gifts to do great and wonderful things, but the choice on how we use our gifts rests with us.
Do we use the gifts God gave us to fulfill His commandments, His will, or do we squander them for a useless purpose? Each of us has the choice, but the choice does not always affect us alone, just as we are affected by the choices of others. And so, Jesus told us to love God and to love one another as ourselves.
If we always acted with only these two commandments in mind, would we have the strife we see in the world today? What great and wondrous things could mankind do if we allowed ourselves to be guided by these words, the Word of the Lord?
By giving us freewill, God has placed a trust in us. He has given us the choice to determine what is right and to do what is right. He has also given us the choice to determine what is wrong and to do what is wrong. He has given us the choice and we bear responsibility for our actions. We are accountable for the consequences of what we do. When the day comes to be held accountable for what we have done and what we have failed to do, will we be proud of our accounting to the Lord?
If we have the gifts of hands and feet, the power of legs and arms, the gifts of sight, hearing and speech; do we put this gifts into the service of the Lord? Do we put the gifts in service of one another? If we were without one of these gifts, would we collapse, or would we place the remainder of our gifts in service to fulfill the commandments of our Lord, to love God and to love one another as ourselves?
If we had but one gift, would we place it in service of our Lord? If we had but one gift, would we be joyous that we had been granted a means to serve God's will, or would we be jealous that we did not have all the gifts of others? Would we understand that we did not need every gift to serve God's purpose? Would we be happy with our place in God's plan?
If we had no gifts, would we understand that in our helplessness we are being offered as the gift for others to serve God's commandments, to serve God's will, to demonstrate their love for God and one another? Would we understand the place set for us that other souls might be saved through the demonstration of their faith and their love of God through the words they perform in understanding of His teaching?
Dear Lord, help me to understand for what purpose You desire me to put to use the gifts You have given me. Help me to understand my place in Your plan. Dear Lord, I am thankful for the gifts You have given me in what I am able to do. Gide me, oh Lord, in Your service and in Your plan. Let me feel the joy of fulfilling Your commandments. Amen.
Peace Be With You,
Nam Eno
