Many blessings to all this Thanksgiving Day whether you read this today, tomorrow or many days beyond;
Today is a special day for us to reflect for all the blessings in our lives. At times, with various problems we face, we fail to stop and think about all for which we should be thankful. While no life is led without challenges, if we take a moment and count our blessings, we may find the stress of the most challenging situations being swept away.
Whatever our station in life, we will find others less fortunate than ourselves, and in those moments, we might whisper to ourselves, “Though, but for the grace of God go I.” Whatever our station in life, we may see others more fortunate than ourselves, but do we really want to trade places with them? Only God knows the duration of their fortune, the source of their happiness and how long it will last.
In this moment, whatever we have, whatever we face may change in the next. It is the benefit of time and the curse of time that whatever is now may not be in moments coming. Reversal of fortunes may find their way to us from a variety of directions, but if we are truly honest our fortunes mean little in place of the true wealth of love.
On this day of Thanksgiving, we should take a moment to think of the blessings of love we have from family and friends. Even if we are in the most unfortunate of situations, we must remember, there was one who loved us so much that He gave His very life in sacrifice for our sins so that we would truly know His love and be given the opportunity to enter His kingdom.
Today is a day, not to think of what we don\\\'t have, but to think of what we do have. Our truest wealth is not counted in denominations of money, it is found in the love we share which cannot be counted. Our truest wealth is not counted in what we amass around us, it is found in the blessings of the Lord which cannot be counted. If we are warm, if we are fed, if we are clothed, these are all things for which we should be thankful, but our greatest thanks should be for if we are loved.
Whatever our conflicts with others, we choose how to respond. Though we may be persecuted by all for whatever reason, the love which is always there for us is the love of God. On this day I am thankful for so much. I am blessed with a wonderful family, I am blessed with the means to provide for my wife, I am blessed with all range of emotions and senses from which to walk through life. I am blessed with the sun that rises in the morning, the fresh Spring air, the warmth of the Summer, the crispness of the Fall and the glistening beauty of Winter. I am blessed with moments that change and chance encounters with others through which I may share blessings. I am blessed most importantly with the love of the Lord.
As I look at pictures I have taken, ponder memories which dance in my head, the blessings I cherish most of all are the simplest moments I have been able to spend with my wife, my children, my grandchildren, blessings all given by God. For what are you thankful for this Thanksgiving Day?
Even if you read this a day, a week or many days beyond the holiday we set aside for giving thanks, we do not need to limit ourselves there. Take a moment each day and ponder the blessings you have; take a moment each day to give thanks to the Lord.
