Christmas, a Time to Welcome Home

Christmas is a time for us to reflect on the birth of our Lord and Savior. While the years have surrounded the day with many different traditions, central to the day is time for the faithful to celebrate the birth of our salvation. The sacrifice in forgiveness of our sins could not have happened unless there was first the birth of the Christ child, the only begotten Son of God.

In the hectic pace that drives our preparations for the celebration, it is also a time that should draw our minds to the virtues God asks of us. It is a time to join with family and friends in celebration and prayer in thanks and praise, but it is also a time to tell the story to others who do not know or have lost touch with the faith of their youth.

For whatever reasons, during this season, we will see our houses of worship crowded with those who have been missing in the pews. It is a time that we may hope and pray that our brothers and sisters who keep themselves at arms length from the doors of God\'s house will see the blessings and joy with which the faithful are filled. There are many reasons why some have drifted away, but the season is a time for souls to come home. May we help God touch their hearts with love and kindness. May we be inviting so that those standing on the outside will seek to come in, stay and feel the welcomeness that may be found in God\'s house.
