“And when your time comes and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your heir after you, sprung from your loins, and I will make his kingdom firm.” (2 Samuel 7:12)
Our God has watched over us for generations. His covenant was with the parents of our parents and will be with the children of our children. His kingdom is forever and we of all generations are His whom He seeks to bring into His home forever and ever.
“I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have sworn to David my servant: I will make your dynasty stand forever and establish your throne through all ages.” (Psalms 89:4-5)
The promise of the Lord was a dynasty for the House of David. Though the evil one seeks to divide it so that is will pass away, if the dynasty did not have strength, if it did not stand, if there was no faith in it that it might whither away; we would not speak of it today. But generations have been born and past, and the name of the King remains on many a tongue, as it was from the time He was first proclaimed, as it will be throughout eternity for the netherworld cannot prevail against it.
“And you, child, will be called prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give his people knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God by which the daybreak from on high will visit us to shine on those who sit in darkness and death\'s shadow, to guide our feet into the path of peace.” The child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the desert until the day of his manifestation to Israel.“ (Luke 1:76:80)
So one was born to prepare the way, One was born to be the way. One was born to proclaim the Word, One was born to make the Word flesh. One was born to point the way, One was born to light the way.
The time of the proclaimer has passed. Who, then, is to proclaim the Word to generations to come? The King chose His apostles and sent them out to tell all the Word; and when it was time that they too should pass, others would carry the Word; some on their tongues, some in their works, but all in their hearts.
We all may proclaim the Word of the Lord. We do not need to be pastors or priests, but through simple acts of kindness and love we become presenters of the gospel. We need not shout from the street corner, for we speak loudest in the justice and love of our actions towards one another.
On this eve of the day we celebrate the birth of our Lord, let us be glad for those who carried the Word through the generations, let us pray that we too may be the ones to bring the Word to our children and the children of the generations to come. Let us reflect in prayer and offer thanks and praise for what was, is now and ever shall be, Amen.
May the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
