Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will conclude a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers the day I took them by the hand to lead them forth from the land of Egypt; for they did not stand by my covenant and I ignored them, says the Lord. But this is the covenant I will establish with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their minds and I will write them upon their hearts. I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” (Hebrews 8:8-10)

When a people turn their back upon their Creator, for how long should they expect patience? When His ways are not their ways, what relationship will they know? If He commands love, but love is not in them, what will become of them?

We might ponder such questions from what we are told in scripture about those who walked before us long ago, but what is the difference of what is now from what was then? Should we expect more from our Lord than His children who walked before us? The Word is there for us to learn, but do we seek to understand? We are generations upon generations, yet He knows each one of us and loves each one of us, but we are told by the Word made flesh that the bond of the love of God is not complete if we do not also love one another. What then, should we expect if His ways are not our ways?

He went up the mountain and summoned those whom he wanted and they came to him. He appointed twelve (whom he also named apostles) that they might be with him and he might send them forth to preach and to have authority to drive out demons:” (Mark 3:13-15)

The time He walked the earth was short, but we are blessed that He sought to place His laws in our minds through those He appointed to preach His ways and through the power of the Holy Spirit. Twelve were appointed to teach, but their time too would be limited and so they would appoint others to continue to pass the Word through the generations.

What we may hear will not remain with us if it does not find a place within our hearts. Through prayer we open the door to understanding of all the prophecy and all the commandments. Through prayer we will know His love and He will know ours. Through prayer we prepare ourselves to make His ways our ways. Through what we do for one another we demonstrate our true understanding of what He asks of us. In all these ways, He is our God and we are His people.

May the peace and blessings of the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
