And you have said: The way of the Lord is not right. Hear you, then, O house of Israel: Is it my way that is not right, and are not rather your ways perverse? For when the just turns himself away from his justice, and commits iniquity, he shall die therein: in the injustice that he has wrought he shall die. And when the wicked turns himself away from his wickedness, which he has wrought, and does judgment, and justice: he shall save his soul alive. Because he considers and turns away himself from all his iniquities which he has wrought, he shall surely live, and not die. ( Ezekiel 18:25-28 )

If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of charity, if any society of the spirit, if any depths of commiseration: Fulfill my joy, that you may be of one mind, having the same charity, being of one accord, agreeing in sentiment. Let nothing be done through contention, neither by vain glory: but in humility, let each esteem others better than themselves: Each one not considering the things that are his own, but those that are of other men. For let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (Philippians 2:1-5)

But what think you? A certain man had two sons; and coming to the first, he said: Son, go work to day in my vineyard. And he answering, said: I will not. But afterwards, being moved with repentance, he went. And coming to the other, he said in like manner. And he answering, said: I go, Sir; and he went not. Which of the two did the will of the father? They say to him: The first. Jesus said to them: Amen I say to you, that the publicans and the harlots shall go into the kingdom of God before you. For John came to you in the way of justice, and you did not believe him. But the publicans and the harlots believed him: but you, seeing it, did not even afterwards repent, that you might believe him. (Matthew 21:28-32)

How many times do we seek our ways over the ways of the Lord? The voices are shrill against the faithful for what they believe, for what they do and what they fail to do. The purveyors of the world are quick to criticize, but, then, what are the wages of their ways?

The divisions among the faithful are many, and they fight among themselves as to the meaning of the words of scripture. From what they learn, the faithful easily see that the way of the purveyors of the world are not the ways of the Lord, but are the ways of the faithful the way of the Lord?

For those who do not believe in God, they cannot understand the Word for they do not seek the Word; the depth and truth of the meaning of the Word is not found in their heart. Their logic, then, is based upon the iniquities of the world. They walk in blindness, they do not hear, they do not feel; therefore, they attempt to comfort their torment through the judgment of others and the seduction of others to their ways. No matter the good purveyors of the world profess to do, the harm they cause remains just the same.

For the way of the faithful, they may equally be at risk if they do not first seek true understanding of the Word. It is easy to profess that one is a believer, but there is no truth to the belief if one is not first willing to live in the truth. If those who profess faith truly understood the Word, there would be no divisions among them, but they are divided because they seek to twist the Word for their our own designs. No matter the good the faithful professes to do, the harm they cause remains just the same.

Who, then, is just? Who, then, walks in the way of the Lord? As the Apostles asked their Teacher, who, then, can be saved? In response, they were told, with God, all things are possible.

He has left it to each one of us to make our choice. It is possible that the faithful may turn to the way of the wicked and the wicked turn to the way of faith. There is hope, then, for the purveyor of the world to see the iniquities of their ways and turn to the truth. There should be fear, then, for the professor of faith when they fall to the seduction of the world and seek their will over the will of God.

Blessed are those who seek and turn to the truth of the Word, for they will seek to turn from the temptations which drive the harms among people. In prayer, we should ask the Lord that we are not confounded by those who attempt to twist the truth and those who attempt to seduce us to the ways of the world. In prayer, we should ask the Lord that we are guided by the Holy Spirit to the wisdom and understanding of the Word.

To educate us, to teach us, to guide us; God has sent us His angels and His prophets. Blessed are those who listened and turned their lives to live in the way of the Lord, but so many did not. To turn us from the ways of the world, God spoke to Moses and wrote the commandments with His own finger. Blessed are those who saw and turned their lives to live in the way of the Lord; but so many did not.

In His love for all His children and so that He might not lose even one of His sheep, He sent His only begotten Son, so that whoever believed in Him might not die, but be led to everlasting life. He sent the Word made flesh so that we might understand the truth and turn to the ways and blessings of the Lord. Blessed are those who listened and turned their lives to live in the way of the Lord; but so many have not.

Our salvation is found only through belief in the One who was sacrificed for us, died for us, but also rose for us so that we all might have eternal life. Our salvation is only through belief in Him, but, can we truly profess belief in Him if His ways are not our ways? He did not come to do battle with kings and conquer nations, He came to do battle with iniquities and to conquer death. He did not come to enslave, but to show us the blessings of charity and service to one another. How perfect is His way, for if we were to live His ways, the conflicts of the world and the harm we cause one another would cease.

Some will say, what God asks of us is too much. Some will say, to live according to the Word of the Lord deprives us of our desires. Some are lured by the ways of the world and fail to see the harm which is caused. Blessed are those who finally see that what God asks of us is to love Him and one another and if we do so, then, we will not cause harm to another, but we will bring the joy of peace to the world.

Some will say, yes, I believe, but will not live that belief. Some will profess to follow the Word, but will not understand that what they do misses the mark for the harm they cause. In prayer, we should ask that we are guided by the Holy Spirit so that we do not easily fall to such sin. As we walk our daily lives, we should ask ourselves as we respond to those about us, is what I am about to do in fulfillment of the commandments to love? If it is, we will do no harm and we will fulfill what God asks of us. If we do not know, we should pray for the strength, courage and wisdom to act as our Lord and Savior has guided us.

May the peace and blessings of the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
