Wisdom Found Only Through Him
Scripture:
Wisdom has built herself a house, she has hewn her out seven pillars. She has slain her victims, mingled her wine, and set forth her table. She has sent her maids to invite to the tower, and to the walls of the city: Whosoever is a little one, let him come to me. And to the unwise she said: Come, eat my bread, and drink the wine which I have mingled for you. Forsake childishness, and live, and walk by the ways of prudence. (Proverbs 9:1-6)
See therefore, brethren, how you walk circumspectly: not as unwise, but as wise: redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore, become not unwise: but understanding what is the will of God. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is luxury: but be filled with the Holy Spirit, speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual canticles, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord: Giving thanks always for all things, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God and the Father: (Ephesians 5:15-20)
I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, for the life of the world. The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying: How can this man give us his flesh to eat? Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen, I say unto you: except you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed. He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me: and I in him. As the living Father has sent me and I live by the Father: so he that eats me, the same also shall live by me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Not as your fathers did eat manna and are dead. He that eats this bread shall live for ever. (John 6:5158)
Reflection:
Wisdom does not come easy and escapes many. Some believe they possess wisdom, but what they believe is folly. Some are certain that what they perceive through their limited logic is truth, but they fail to see the flaws which mislead. So many times people have been wrong about what they believe they have studied in depth. Over and over they convince themselves that the mistaken conclusions they have derived are indisputable facts. The mistake made my many is to accept deceit willingly as truth without testing the motive of good and evil.
Some believe that cunning is wisdom, but guile is the way of the evil one. Deception clouds what may be understood and hides the way of treachery. Those who seek the truth of wisdom seek a gift which may only be granted by God. The secrets of the universe are elusive for despite the study of learned minds, people struggle to understand even the simplest elements of the creation of God. What is impossible for men and women to understand is simple for their Creator, for He is the designer of all. For truth to be found, it must be sought through Him, for the ways of the world are not His ways. His ways and His commandments are the ways of truth and love as it may only be found in the kingdom of heaven.
If we pray for wisdom, He will grant it to us through the blessings of the Holy Spirit. As the Word is revealed in our hearts, we will see that it is possible to approach the world with love and seek to separate ourselves from evil. It is only in this way that we demonstrate our understanding of what He desires for the children of His creation. Though we may be weak in our choices, if we seek His help, it is possible to free ourselves so that we are forever open to His love.
Through the sin of man, death was brought to the world; but it is not His desire that the children of His creation should perish. He came to us to be the way, the bread from heaven, so that we may be nourished for the eternal life which awaits for those who believe in Him. If He is in us, then, the truth of eternal life is in us. In prayer we should offer thanks and praise that we are given the body and blood so that through Him we may be brought to the Father in heaven.
May the peace and blessings of the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
