From Whence Does Our Heart Learn?
Scripture:
The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his ways, before he made any thing from the beginning. I was set up from eternity, and of old, before the earth was made. The depths were not as yet, and I was already conceived, neither had the fountains of waters as yet sprung out. The mountains, with their huge bulk, had not as yet been established: before the hills, I was brought forth: He had not yet made the earth, nor the rivers, nor the poles of the world. When he prepared the heavens, I was present: when with a certain law, and compass, he enclosed the depths: When he established the sky above, and poised the fountains of waters: When he compassed the sea with its bounds, and set a law to the waters that they should not pass their limits: when he balanced the foundations of the earth; I was with him forming all things: and was delighted every day, playing before him at all times; playing in the world: and my delights were to be with the children of men. (Proverbs 8:22-31)
Being justified therefore by faith, let us have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access through faith into this grace wherein we stand: and glory in the hope of the glory of the sons of God. And not only so: but we glory also in tribulation, knowing that tribulation works patience; and patience trial; and trial hope; and hope confounds not: because the charity of God is poured forth in our hearts, by the Holy Spirit who is given to us. (Romans 5:1-5)
I have yet many things to say to you: but you cannot bear them now. But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will teach you all truth. For he shall not speak of himself: but what things soever he shall hear, he shall speak. And the things that are to come, he shall show you. He shall glorify me: because he shall receive of mine and shall show it to you. All things whatsoever the Father has are mine. Therefore I said that he shall receive of me and show it to you. (John 16:12-15)
Reflection:
As the Son came from the Father, the Father is in the Son and so the Son is in the Father. Through the days of old, the Son was with the Father as He is with the Father in the days of now and the days which shall be. In Him exists all knowledge and all wisdom. As the Son knows the blessings of the Father, He takes joy in the possibilities of the children of His creation. The Father created all for the wonders which may come from all. Some will seek to use for His glory what He has placed within them. Some will turn another way.
The ways of the world do not need to be as they are, for they could be as the Lord intended them to be. For this reason, He has sought to teach the children of His creation the blessings of His commandments and the blessings of His grace, mercy and love. So that all might remain with Him, He could impose upon all, without choice, the law of good; but for the children of His creation to have meaning, He gave them free will. Through the exercise of that will comes blessings and consequences. He intends that all shall know blessings, but for each, what comes is the consequence of their choice.
Through faith, the children of His creation shall join in Him and come to know His grace. With His grace within their hearts, they will understand the glory of His love and the blessings which it brings. In the time of this world, people shall see challenge and struggle, but through Him all challenge and struggle may be overcome. Through prayer, all may ask that He reveals to us that which He asks of the children of His creation and how we may participate in His works. As He reveals Himself within our hearts, we are led to know and live the blessings of charity and caring for one another.
As we grow, we must learn the simplicity and complexity of His creation. There is much for us to learn, but our mistake is that in our time we believe we have all the knowledge we need and we believe we know what is necessary for every decision we must make. We fail to understand that there is so much we have not learned and so much of His creation we do not understand. Wisdom does not come within a moment, but through the experiences of life and our experience of Him.
We cannot learn of Him if we do not spend time with Him, if we do not invite Him into our lives. In prayer, we may ask to learn of His Word and of His creation. Those who seek to learn of Him will know His blessings. Those who seek the ways of the world will receive the strife of the world. Through Him, we are led to make decisions of love. Through the world, we are seduced to make decisions of selfishness without understanding the consequences to come.
He does not desire to lose any of the children of His creation, but those who turn from Him will be allowed to go their way into the darkness. In this time, we perceive the moment, but that does not mean we understand that which will come from what we do and what we fail to do. If we seek Him, He will guide us to the blessings of what could be through living His Word. Through the Holy Spirit, He will guide us to the blessings of charity and love. Through Him all that is good shall be revealed. Through Him and our faith in Him, we will receive all which He promises.
May the peace and blessings of the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
