The Power of His Grace and Mercy

Scripture:

For great power always belonged to you alone: and who shall resist the strength of your arm? For the whole world before you is as the least grain of the balance, and as a drop of the morning dew, that falls down upon the earth: But you have mercy upon all, because you can do all things, and overlook the sins of men for the sake of repentance. For you love all things that are, and hate none of the things which you have made: for you did not appoint, or make any thing hating it. And how could any thing endure, if you would not; or be preserved, if not called by you? But you spare all: because they are yours, O Lord, who loves souls.

O how good and sweet is your spirit, O Lord, in all things! And therefore you chastise them that err, by little and little: and admonish them, and speak to them, concerning the things wherein they offend: that leaving their wickedness, they may believe in you, O Lord.
(Wisdom 11:22-12:2)

Wherefore also we pray always for you: That our God would make you worthy of his vocation and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness and the work of faith in power: That the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.

And we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and of our gathering together unto him: That you be not easily moved from your sense nor be terrified, neither by spirit nor by word nor by epistle; as sent from us, as if the day of the Lord were at hand.
(2 Thessalonians 1:11-2:2)

And entering he walked through Jericho. And behold, there was a man named Zacheus, who was the chief of the publicans: and he was rich. And he sought to see Jesus who he was: and he could not for the crowd, because he was low of stature. And running before, he climbed up into a sycamore tree, that he might see him: for he was to pass that way. And when Jesus was come to the place, looking up, he saw him and said to him: Zacheus, make haste and come down: for this day I must abide in your house. And he made haste and came down and received him with joy. And when all saw it, they murmured, saying, that he was gone to be a guest with a man that was a sinner. But Zacheus standing, said to the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have wronged any man of any thing, I restore him fourfold. Jesus said to him: This day is salvation come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:1-10)

Reflection:

God has power over all and may hold all to account for what they have done and what they have failed to do, but blessed are the children of His creation for He is a merciful and loving God and is patient with the errors of His children. He has placed within each of us a potential to live as an example of His love and He waits for us to discover the gifts of our talents. As we walk our daily lives, we learn of the world and we learn of Him. He allows us to choose our path, but His desire is that we will comprehend and follow His Word.

The choices we make reveals what is in our hearts. It is for the heart which good and evil do battle. The power of love is what is released when good prevails. The ruin of hate is what is released when evil is allowed to take root. He seeks to save every soul and will banish evil from the heart which comes to Him. He sends the Holy Spirit to guide us, but the choice is ours whether to pray that He purges wickedness from our soul.

The work of His creation may be done through our hands if we choose for our hands to be His. The work of evil is what consumes us when we turn from Him. Through prayer we may ask Him to guide our mind, our heart and our hands so that we may offer to the world the power of charity, the power of caring, the power of love and the blessings of faith. If what we offer is disdain, arrogance, enmity, selfishness and scorn; what we do is not of Him and serves only the objectives of the evil one.

Each of us is called to a vocation through which His blessings may be spread. Some are called to minister to communities. Some are called to minister to the sick. Some are called to minister to the defenseless. Some are called to minister to the less fortunate. Some are called to minister to families. Some are called to minister to those poor in faith. Blessed are all who work from their talents to spread the blessings of His love.

As we live His Word, we bring ourselves closer to Him. As we seek Him in prayer, we bring Him within our heart. Blessed are those who pray in earnest, for through Him all worry of troubles may be set aside. There is nothing in this world which may bring eternal happiness, it is only found through Him.

Blessed are the children of His creation for He seeks to bring the sinner back from their choices. No one can look upon another with superiority for all have made the choices of sin. Instead, He calls upon all to look upon one another with love and charity, for the blessings which are shared will grow like the seeds in a fertile field. Through service of one another, all may receive what is of Him, all may receive the power of love for He is love and through His love all the children of His creation may receive salvation if they but reach out to Him.

May the peace and blessings of the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
