So I declare and testify in the Lord that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds; darkened in understanding, alienated from the life of God because of their ignorance, because of their hardness of heart, they have become callous and have handed themselves over to licentiousness for the practice of every kind of impurity to excess. That is not how you learned Christ, assuming that you have heard of him and were taught in him, as truth is in Jesus, that you should put away the old self of your former way of life, corrupted through deceitful desires, and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new self, created in God?s way in righteousness and holiness of truth. (Ephesians 4:17-24)
We are as we were created, but with each day, we decide what we shall become. Some are confused in their beliefs as to what is right and just because they have not received the truth of His Word. Some are deprived of His Word by those who stand against Him, but there are others who deprive themselves by intention or neglect.
His Word is there before us. We have the choice to study it, but many choose to ignore it in favor of worldly pursuits. Perhaps some are afraid for what they will find and the mirror it presents through which they will see that which corrupts their soul. Some say they desire to learn, but have not found the time. We must ask, what do we gain by ignoring Him when we have the opportunity to obtain eternity within His kingdom by embracing Him?
Should we find within ourselves the stain of corruption, it will only be our faith in Him which will cleanse us. We have the opportunity, through Him, to set aside that which is dark, to renew our soul, to receive His forgiveness and His blessings. We need only extend ourselves to Him with a contrite and sincere heart, and He will heal our soul. The choice of the direction of our journey, He has left to us, but if we choose to walk towards Him, His embrace awaits.
Blessed are those who seek His embrace, for He will fill them with the blessings of the Holy Spirit.
