What do Christians think about Global Warming??? From my research, there is almost like a battle between seculars and Christians...seculars think that Christians don't care about the environment because the sooner these 'events' come (like wars, plagues, etc...) the sooner Jesus will come.
I don't know if all that is true. Jesus does comment to us in Matthew 24 that all these things --tribulations, war, and what not---are the beginning of the labor pains...
As a Christian, I do think we need to be more aware of the environment and treat it as a gift God gave us to cherish and tend in a responsible manner. I also think that science can explain a lot, but I don't think they can explain the spiritual realms of global warmimg...such as Hurricane Katrina. I don't think people will buy that thousands of loved ones were killed because the earth is changing. People are looking for a reason...a reason why things are happening...I think science can only explain so much.

RedAngel,

I think you are right, we need to be responsible stewards of the world God has created. He gave us dominion over the earth and the creatures. He has given us what we need for our sustenance. He has created great wonders, and we may attempt to study them, to understand them, to even possibly explain them, but there is so much more beyond our comprehension.

There are the arrogant who believe man can control everything, but that is folly under the sun. There are many forces at work that are beyond man's influence.

And what of global warming? We must live in our environment, therefore, we must also take action to protect it. We should also keep in mind that the world has experienced many climate changes well beyond the control of man. We must heed the warnings of our environment, we must be responsible, we must be prudent, but we should not be arrogant that we determine everything.

Can we stop global warming? Can we prove it even exists? There are many who, through the evidence studied by science, continue to argue both sides. It was not but a few short decades ago that many scientists warned of another ice age and plotted steps to prevent it. Who is right?

As for hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, cyclones and earthquakes; the many forces of nature that result in the deaths of many, it is tragic. Who can fully explain why these tragic events occur. Perhaps God will one day reveal all to us.

Within these tragedies, we must keep in mind that it is the destiny of everyone to die. Even if these forces did not exist, our bodies will not sustain us forever. Our bodies are designed to perish so that we may be resurrected in the life of the world to come. We will not know the hour. Our Lord has warned us of this, so we must live as if the next moment in this world is our last, that it may be held up as to whether or not we believed and followed in the path of the Lord.

Nam Eno
