The Gift of Wisdom

Wisdom comes from God. True wisdom is a gift He grants to us so that we may understand elements of our existence. With so much to comprehend, without the benefit of wisdom, we make bad assumptions about what we do not know. We cannot make good decisions based on bad assumptions, yet, decisions we must make. We must pray that God grants us wisdom to make the correct decisions, the decisions that lead us to His kingdom.

If we do not seek the gift of His wisdom, we should not be surprised if our decision making is flawed. No one person can hope to possess all knowledge of the the universe. This is only in the capacity of God. But all knowledge is needed to render always perfect decisions.

What must we decide about each day in our lives? We must decide about what we do or don't do. We must decide about matters of survival. We must decide about matters of relationships. We must decide about matters of caring for others. We must decide about matters of personal pleasure.

God did not place us in the world to devoid us of pleasure. He has given us many gifts, but it is the mindless pursuit of pleasure that leads us to sin. Pleasure is fleeting, but God is forever. If all we seek is pleasure, then we miss the true blessings of God. For that which is fleeting, we miss that which is forever. That is the result of the misdirection of sin.

Jesus held high standards of sacrifice for his disciples. Is there any wonder given the sacrifice He made for us? And in this sacrifice, He gave us hope in that through His mercy, our sins may be forgiven. Thanks be to God.
