Many blessing to all,
Can we imagine the thoughts of a man whose mission from birth was to make way for the Lord? John, the one who cried out in the wilderness was announced to his father by the angel of God. The angel said to Zechariah, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall name him John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He will drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will be filled with the holy Spirit even from the womb, and he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of fathers toward children and the disobedient to the understanding of the righteous, to prepare a people fit for the Lord.\"
John knew even before his birth, the presence of the Lord. As his mother, Elizabeth, spoke with Mary, the mother of the Lord, John leaped for joy within the womb of his mother. When John was born, Zechariah prophesied about his son, “And you, child, will be called prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give his people knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God by which the daybreak from on high will visit us to shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.\"
What could be the thoughts of a man knowing all that would come and the part he would play in heralding the way? While other men may approach their destiny with doubt, did this child know he would fulfill the prophecy of Isaiah and Malachi as he proclaimed the way for the Lord?
What would our thoughts be if we knew the mission the Lord might have for us? Perhaps, if we reflect, the Lord gave us our mission we He commanded us to love one another as He loves us.
May the Lord be with you,
Prayer Soldier
