“Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, sensual lust, enticement for the eyes, and a pretentious life, is not from the Father but is from the world. Yet the world and its enticement are passing away. But whoever does the will of God remains forever.” (1 John 2:15-17)
It is natural for us to seek comfort, but if we seek comfort more than we seek the Lord, we will fall into the traps of the evil one who seeks to separate the children of God from their Creator. The evil one places enticements before us, distractions from what we should do to fulfill the will of the Lord. We must life our live, but if it is for the things of this world, we are living for that which is temporary. To live for that which is forever, we must seek to be filled with the holy Spirit, we must seek to walk in the faith of our Lord.
“When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.“ (Luke 2:39-40)
Through a child the world is saved. A child, strong, filled with wisdom and the favor of God did not rise to build great armies to vanquish enemies of the chosen people of God, rather, He rose to teach all the children of God the Word through which they may all be saved. He fought not with the sword, for He had no need of the sword. With the Word He revealed the wicked and all their evil ways. He did not stand to conquer this world, but to conquer death. The battles in which He engaged was not for the riches of this world, but to save the souls of all His children for everlasting life in the next.
Through prayer we may come to know Him, to know that through Him we may banish that which is evil; that through Him, we will hear our calling as to how to use the gifts He has granted us to do His will; that through him we will find the light, the way, the path to peace and everlasting life.
May the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
