Covet therefore my words, and love them, and you shall have instruction. Wisdom is glorious, and never fades away, and is easily seen by them that love her, and is found by them that seek her. She prevents them that covet her, so that she first shows herself unto them. He that awakes early to seek her, shall not labor: for he shall find her sitting at his door. To think therefore upon her, is perfect understanding: and he that watches for her, shall quickly be secure. (Wisdom 6:12-16)
And we will not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that are asleep, that you be not sorrowful, even as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died, and rose again; even so them who have slept through Jesus, will God bring with him. For this we say unto you in the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who remain unto the coming of the Lord, shall not prevent them who have slept. For the Lord himself shall come down from heaven with commandment, and with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead who are in Christ, shall rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, shall be taken up together with them in the clouds to meet Christ, into the air, and so shall we be always with the Lord. Wherefore, comfort one another with these words. ( 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 )
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be like to ten virgins, who taking their lamps went out to meet the bridegroom and the bride. And five of them were foolish, and five wise. But the five foolish, having taken their lamps, did not take oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with the lamps. And the bridegroom tarrying, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made: Behold the bridegroom comes, go forth to meet him.
Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise: Give us of your oil, for our lamps are gone out. The wise answered, saying: Lest perhaps there be not enough for us and for you, go rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. Now while they went to buy, the bridegroom came: and they that were ready, went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut. But at last come also the other virgins, saying: Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answering said: Amen I say to you, I know you not. Watch, therefore, because you know not the day nor the hour. (Matthew 25:1-13)
Wisdom is a gift which is granted by the Lord. It is elusive to some, for they mistake knowledge for wisdom. Wisdom does not come from understanding what is seen in the world, but its source is from understanding the Word of God. Wisdom is obscured by evil, but revealed through the commandments to love. In prayer, we should ask to be granted wisdom through the blessings of the Holy Spirit, for through His guidance and faith in His Word, much will be revealed.
Wisdom does not come through the law, as some would proclaim. The law and the words of the prophets are warnings for those who do not understand the Word, but if wisdom of the Word flourishes within us, we fulfill the law through what we do in faith, charity and love.
The soul with the least knowledge of the world, but is filled with love, will be blessed with a wisdom which cannot be found in the ways of the world. It is folly to study the mechanics of that which surrounds us if we first do not understand the Word, for nothing is found in the mechanics. If we seek true wisdom, we must seek the meaning for which God formed us and that meaning is only found through our understanding of the Word.
As we understand the Word, then, wisdom will find us and we will find the way to the peace and love of the Lord. To quench the thirst for wisdom, we should not seek to be wise in the ways of the world, but wise through our understanding of the Word. Blessed are we when we come to understand that all is revealed to us through the love of God and His desire for us to love one another as He loves us.
We are saddened when those we love depart this life for what was familiar to us is now gone. What saddens us, however, is what seems to be a loss to us; but what should gladden us is what those who depart us will gain as they pass from this time into the time made possible for us through the resurrection of the One who was sacrificed for us.
As He rose to conquer death, He became the torch to light the way. He shines in brightness, for through Him, the full meaning of the Word was revealed to us. Through our faith in Him, we shall find the path to everlasting life which cannot be taken from us for he has already paid the way. Our time here is brief, but it is our time to learn from the Word so that we are prepared to shed our sin.
As He conquered death, so too did He conquer our sin. Through Him we may be purified so that as we are brought to the gates of heaven, only the purity which is found through Him will remain in us. Blessed are we that we may be forgiven our sins. Blessed are we that we may be washed of our sins. Blessed are we that through our belief in Him, as we pass from this world, we are given the opportunity for everlasting life within the peace and glory of love in heaven.
The time we spend with the Word will prepare us for the time eternal. While we may wait for the time which is surely to come, what we do in that passing will be a time which is judged. In the time of this world, each has been granted talents and gifts which may be used to do works according to the Word. We do not know when that time will come, but as it does, it will be our choice as to how we respond. Some will use their gifts for foolish purposes, but the wise will use their gifts according to what we learn from the Word. Blessed are those who respond to the call of the Lord, for their works will be pleasing to God.
As we wake each day, we do not know what will come from each moment. We do not know always who we will meet or for what purpose we may use our talents. What we may be called to do may be small or grand, but blessed are we if what we do is in response to the will of God.
May the peace and blessings of the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
