The Preciousness of Life:
Pharaoh then commanded all his people, ?Throw into the Nile every boy that is born, but you may let all the girls live.? ( Exodus 1:22 )
How cheap is life to those who live in the darkness? They are deceived that to prosper, others must be subjugated, villainized, controlled or killed. They do not see as God sees, the preciousness of life, that through love of Him and one another, all may prosper. They see others as competition or obstacles to their desires. They do not see the complexities of the world and what the premature loss of even one life may mean for all.
Pharaoh did not comprehend that had his edict been carried out years earlier, Joseph, a son of Israel, may not have lived to save the Egyptians from famine ( Exodus 1:8 ). We must ask today, what do we lose when any life is taken prematurely? It is not just the life of one who is impacted, it is all the lives who would have crossed the path of the one who is lost before God intended to bring them home.
His commandment was not, love this one and kill those who are inconvenient; rather it is to love one another as He loves us. He told us that all the law and prophesy depend upon the commandments to love ( Matthew 22:36-40 ). A society which allows the taking of innocent life demonstrates their ignorance of the blessings of these commandments.
The evil one thrives through the divisions he causes; divisions by which he sets one against another and encourages conflict, oppression, subjugation, violence and the taking of innocent life. In prayer, we must ask that the light of God may be shed upon the darkness which flows through the land and that which drives the emissaries of the culture of death. We must pray that those blind to evil shall have their eyes opened and that those who promote evil will be defeated. We must pray that the faithful are given the wisdom and courage to stand strong against the darkness so that His light may show every heart the blessings of love.
Blessed are those who respect life, for through their caring, the light of love shall be spread.
