Is it a mystery that Christians are persecuted? So many have heard the Word, and in hearing have come to believe. How can the evil one stand in this world in the face of the message of God? There is but one way and that is to seek the destruction, by reputation or life, of all who live and follow the Word.

There are those who would simply insult us and deride us for our belief. For what reason would they do this? Are they threatened by our prayer? Is it that we would advise them against sin? Perhaps they are afraid that in our faith, we will judge them. It is true, there are those of us who will, but it is only in our sin that we fail and fall to the temptation to judge others; and in that failing, we shall be judged too.

But there are those who would seek to kill our spirit. In many nations around the world, Christians have lost their freedom or live under the threat of death for their belief. How strong is the test of our faith for those of us who are blessed to live in a land where we are only insulted and derided for our belief in God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. How strong must the faith be of those who live in a land where they are under constant threat of death for professing their faith in the one true God, who, to save the souls of the world; He sent His only begotten Son, so that who so ever believes in the Son will not perish, but have everlasting life?

Dear Lord, I confess that I withdraw in silence so as not to make unbelievers uncomfortable. Just as Peter denied You before the dawn, I have done the same to be accommodating of those without faith. If I am not able to express my faith in the face of those who would merely insult me, how then would I profess my faith in the face of those who would imprison me, torture me, or kill me?

Dear Lord, it should not matter how others may judge me, but only how You may judge me. I pray, dear Lord, fill me with Your strength that I my do what is pleasing to You. Grant me the wisdom to know what to say when I am faced with those who do not believe in Your truth; those who are blinded by the deceptions of the evil one.

Dear Mary, mother of God, join me in this prayer that I may do what is right, that I may be a true defender of the Word of God. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Peace be with you,
Nam Eno
