No, you have approached Mount Zion and the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and countless angels in festal gathering, and the assembly of the firstborn enrolled in heaven, and God the judge of all, and the spirits of the just made perfect, and Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and the sprinkled blood that speaks more eloquently than that of Abel. (Hebrews 12:22-24)

The blood of Abel was the spilling of blood by brother against brother. It is the failing of mankind that violence should so often find its way before us for it is contrary to what God commands. From the soil upon which it was spilled, the blood of Able cried out to the Lord. Despite those who have sinned, the love of God for His children is such that He sent His only begotten Son so that the blood of the Son would become the atonement for all who believe in Him.

The blood of the Savior cries out to the Father, the judge of all, to forgive the sins of men for they know not what they do when they walk paths away from their Lord. The blood of the Son is the way for all who believe in Him as it provides the means to cleanse all who seek to come into the presence of God.

The true faithful of the Lord find great sorrow in the violence of one against the other for their Savior gave them a new covenant embodied in a new commandment to love one another as He has loved us. Though they stand ready to defend the oppressed and the innocent, the true believers seek unity in the body of Christ through peace and the sharing of the gifts God has granted to each of us.

He summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over unclean spirits. He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick--no food, no sack, no money in their belts. They were, however, to wear sandals but not a second tunic. He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there. Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them.” So they went off and preached repentance. They drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them. (Mark 6:7-13)

Jesus sent His apostles to preach the gospel of the Lord. Had we lived in those times, would we have welcomed them? Would we have invited them into our homes? Would we have given them food and a place to sleep? Would we have given them comfort so that they were fresh to perform the task given them? Would we have listened to the Word? Would we have sought healing of mind and soul? Would we have believed, or would we have turned them away so that they would shake the dust from their feet in testimony against us?

With what has been passed through the generations, we might wonder why anyone would choose not to follow in the path of the Lord, but the world is full of deception and many are deceived. Blessed are those who are not lured from the truth, for the good news of the Lord is theirs.

May the peace and blessings of the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
