The Gift of God Beyond All Gifts

Scripture:

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that brings good tidings, and that preaches peace: of him that shows forth good, that preaches salvation, that says to Sion: Your God shall reign. The voice of your watchmen: they have lifted up their voice, they shall praise together: for they shall see eye to eye when the Lord shall convert Sion. Rejoice, and give praise together, O you deserts of Jerusalem: for the Lord has comforted his people: he has redeemed Jerusalem. The Lord has prepared his holy arm in the sight of all the Gentiles: and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God. (Isaiah 52:7-10)

God, who, at sundry times and in divers manners, spoke in times past to the fathers by the prophets, last of all, in these days has spoken to us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the world. Who being the brightness of his glory, and the figure of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, making purgation of sins, sits on the right hand of the majesty on high. Being made so much better than the angels, as he has inherited a more excellent name than they. For to which of the angels has he said at any time, You are my Son, to day have I begotten you? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? And again, when he brings in the first begotten into the world, he said: And let all the angels of God adore him. (Hebrews 1:1-6)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him: and without him was made nothing that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to give testimony of the light, that all men might believe through him. He was not the light, but was to give testimony of the light.

That was the true light, which enlightens every man that comes into this world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, he gave them power to be made the sons of God, to them that believe in his name. Who are born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we saw his glory, the glory as it were of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bears witness of him, and cries out, saying: This was he of whom I spoke: He that shall come after me, is preferred before me: because he was before me. And of his fulness we all have received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses; grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. No man has seen God at any time: the only begotten Son who is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.
( John 1:1-18 )

Reflection:

Blessed are those who open their ears to hear the good tidings of the Lord, for through the Word of God, salvation is near. In prayer we should ask that all the peoples and all the nations shall hear the promise of salvation offered to all the children of His creation. Through the glory of the reign of God, all may know love. Through Him, all the despair of evil, all of its misery shall be washed away. It is right to give Him thanks and praise, for through His glorious love, all the tears shall disappear.

Not one child who calls for Him in faith and love shall be left behind. Let all rejoice and revel in the wondrous blessings of His love. In the path of His light, no pain shall endure, for the warmth of His merciful heart shall lift us up forever. His message was sent to us in countless ways, but many of the children of His creation struggle to comprehend or choose to ignore what is placed before them. Blinded by the ways of the world, many fall to ways which are not of God, but the temptations laid by evil as snares of the soul.

To light the way so that all might see, He sent His only begotten Son as an example of the Word. Though the angels adore Him, He walked among us to wash the feet of His disciples and to become the sacrifice for all the sins of the world. The One sent to us is the great purger of sins, One in being with the Father, for as He is in the Father, the Father is in Him so that all may find the way to the Father through Him.

As the angels adore Him, so too should the children of His creation. Choirs of angels sing His praise. We can only imagine the joy of such music, a blessing which awaits all who believe in Him and seek to follow Him to His kingdom. May all the faithful sing praises to Him, so that we too may join the angels in joyous adoration and in thanks for our salvation.

Some walk among us to bring us the truth. Some walk among us to bestow upon us twisted words of deceit. The one who walked in the desert was called by God to herald the way for the One born of a virgin; the One sent to teach the truth. What was spoken was not just for the ones who witnessed the moment, but the generations who would receive the record of what was witnessed.

A joyous gift to the generations was heralded to shepherds who would come and bear witness of a child laying in mean estate. This joyous gift reveals to all hearts the blessings God has for all the children of His creation. This joyous gift, when truthfully comprehended, reveals great hope; a hope which is not only for our life to come, but which can be experienced in this time, if we respond to His call that we should live in peace and love of one another.

Mary knew that the child which was formed in her womb was as told to her by an angel, but could she have comprehended in those moments what was to come as a blessing to her and all the children of the creation of God? Could she comprehend all the lives to be forever changed when she responded that she would be the handmaid of the Lord and that she would accept the life to be formed within her and which would come into this world through her; a gift not only to her, but for all the generations?

Blessed is Mary among women, for through the miracle of her womb, a gift granted to her by God, He came down from heaven to become man; but what happened then, does not end there. Mary was not the only one who was called in that moment, for all who allow Him to enter their heart and allow themselves to become the vessels of His hands are also blessed. The light of the Lord will shine through the faithful so that others may see; but before such blessings may be received, the faithful must also respond that it be done to them according to His Word.

As our Savior came to us through the womb of Mary, so too, may He come to all who surround us through how we choose to share what is in our hearts. If we choose to accept Him and He holds the highest place within our heart, what we share of our heart will be of Him. If we accept the deceptions which surround us and allow a preferred place in our hearts for the ways of the world, then what we share will not be of Him, but what turns us and others to the ways of darkness.

While one voice was called to herald the way in the desert, all the faithful are called to join in that which is heralded. As the voices of the faithful join in truth, a choir of truth is formed which may be heard throughout the generations so that all may know to make straight the way of the Lord. Blessed are those who share the truth, for in that sharing, love will spread from heart to heart. In prayer we should ask that all the voices of truth should join that everyone may know the blessings of the love and peace which may only be found through the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

May the peace and blessings of the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
