Christ the King of Kings
Scripture:
I beheld, therefore, in the vision of the night, and lo, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and he came even to the ancient of days: and they presented him before him. And he gave him power, and glory, and a kingdom: and all peoples, tribes, and tongues shall serve him: his power is an everlasting power that shall not be taken away: and his kingdom that shall not be destroyed. (Daniel 7:13-14)
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the first begotten of the dead and the prince of the kings of the earth, who has loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood and has made us a kingdom, and priests to God and his Father. To him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen. Behold, he comes with the clouds, and every eye shall see him: and they also that pierced him. And all the tribes of the earth shall bewail themselves because of him. Even so. Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty. ( Revelations 1:5-8 )
Pilate therefore went into the hall again and called Jesus and said to him: Are you the king of the Jews? Jesus answered: Say you this thing of yourself, or have others told it to you of me? Pilate answered: Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you up to me. What have you done? Jesus answered: My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would certainly strive that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now my kingdom is not from hence. Pilate therefore said to him: Are you a king then? Jesus answered: You say that I am a king. For this was I born, and for this came I into the world; that I should give testimony to the truth. Every one that is of the truth hears my voice. (John 18:33-37)
Reflection:
That which is prophesied comes to the children of His creation. For many, it is the blessing for which they pray and wait. For others, it is not believed and scorned. For a time, He will allow each to walk their way, hoping they will choose the path for which He has made them. Some will rise to praise His name, but others will turn away and seek the ways of the world.
For a time, He will leave the world to its struggles so that all might see the consequences of when lives are handed over to evil. Some will see and understand, but many will find themselves blind to what it is they should see. The people will be given opportunities to live with love, but as evil stalks them and the lives around them, many will be deceived that evil is good and good is evil. The people are deceived into believing that ways and choices of selfishness are somehow virtues.
God has seen how easy the people are lured to evil and how those who He has set as stewards of His creation fail in their choices. And so, He sent forth His only begotten Son and anointed Him so that through Him the children of His creation might receive the truth and be guided to the path of salvation.
He is the One who transcends time. He is the One who stands at the beginning and the end at the same moment who also knows all which has been and will be to come. There will be the day where all will see the truth; even those who have denied Him, those who have turned their back on Him, those who have spurned Him. In that moment, the faithful shall rejoice, but the unholy will grind and gnash their teeth for they will know that what could have been theirs is now forever lost.
The One who is King of all chose to come into the world, not in a hall of a wealthy monarch, but in a stable of mean estate. It is from such a place He would grow to walk the world among the poor and less fortunate. Had nobles known who He truly is, kings of the land would have fought to bow at His feet; but surrounded by nobles was not the way He sought to teach the people.
Some would see and know He is the King of Kings, but many would not be able to fathom the wisdom and perfection which was before them. Many would seek to test Him and challenge Him with ridicule. Those who see or hear words but only understand their meaning through the ways of the world were and are deaf and blind to what He brought to them. He came as the truth so that all might see and all might hear. As it was then, it has been through the generations and will continue to be that some will hear, some will see; but many will remain deaf, many will remain blind.
In prayer, we should ask that we are guided so that our eyes and ears are opened to the truth. In prayer, we should listen for His voice, the voice through which the Holy Spirit has been sent to us so that we may be guided in truth; for if we hear Him in our hearts, His truth will be in us. Though many have been anointed as kings of peoples, there is but one eternal King to which every knee should bend and every head should bow, for He is the King of Kings and the eternal King of the kingdom of heaven.
May the peace and blessings of the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
