The Purpose to Which We Put Our Talent

Scripture:

Deal your bread to the hungry, and bring the needy and the harborless into your house: when you shall see one naked, cover him, and despise not your own flesh. Then shall your light break forth as the morning, and your health shall speedily arise, and your justice shall go before your face, and the glory of the Lord shall gather thee up. Then shall you call, and the Lord shall hear: you shall cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If you will take away the chain out of the midst of you, and cease to stretch out the finger, and to speak that which profits not. When you shall pour out your soul to the hungry, and shall satisfy the afflicted soul, then shall your light rise up in darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday. (Isaiah 58:7-10)

And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not in loftiness of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of Christ. For I judged not myself to know anything among you, but Jesus Christ: and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not in the persuasive words of human wisdom, but in showing of the Spirit and power: That your faith might not stand on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:1-5)

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing anymore but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men. You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house. So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5:13-16)

Reflection:

When we bestow good upon one another, then, everyone shall share in the blessings. When we recoil in selfishness, then, gloom is spread. Those who share in deceit and allow words to be given falsely will not know joy, but will only find conflict and ill will to fill their days. Blessed are the people who care for one another, for that has always been His design for the children of His creation.

Our light shines when we extend our talents for the benefits of others. The more hands which give, the fewer hearts shall be in need. This is the way He planned for us, that we shall speak of one another in truth, we shall share respect, we shall build up rather than tear down. It is our choice whether we shall work together for the benefit of all or against one another for individual agendas and desires. It is our choice whether we shall share in our blessings and the joy which may be received when we extend our hearts in love.

The knowledge and wisdom of people is left wanting, for there is so much of His creation about which we still have to learn, but if our trust is in He who created all, then, we may learn from Him for what we may use our own ability to create. It is our choice as to the purpose we put our talents, it is our choice as to what we choose to learn. Their is great power in His wisdom, but we cannot receive it if we do not first seek Him.

We were all placed on this earth, even the most afflicted amongst us, for a purpose within His plan. It is our choice as to what we put our talents. We may waste our moments to senseless pursuits or do the works to which He calls us. We must reflect upon our abilities and what may come from us, for great distances may still be covered through many small steps. We should not underestimate what we can do when we seek to follow Him. In prayer, we must listen for how we are guided. In prayer, we may ask that He helps us to recognize the purpose for which He has for our life and the blessings which we may spread.
