The One Sent, Not To Destroy, But To Save

As the visions during the night continued, I saw coming with the clouds of heaven One like a son of man. When he reached the Ancient of Days and was presented before him, He received dominion, splendor, and kingship; all nations, peoples and tongues will serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not pass away, his kingship, one that shall not be destroyed. (Daniel 7:13-14)

The people of Israel awaited the coming of a Messiah to deliver them from their oppressors. They believed He would be a great king who would command powerful armies who would smite down the wicked and deliver the people to joy and prosperity. In the time of His coming, the people of the day struggled to comprehend the One whom the Lord sent as their Savior.

Instead of great armies, He commanded great love. He did not smite with vengeance, but offered forgiveness to all who believe in Him. He did not come to be served, but to serve. He did not come so that sacrifices might be brought to Him, but that He would become the sacrifice so that those who believe in Him may be forgiven their sins such they may be cleansed to enter into His eternal kingdom.

The Messiah who came did not come to destroy, but to save (John 3:17). His love was demonstrated from upon the cross. His power was demonstrated as He conquered death and through His example of love. Though hate and evil have been given their day within this world, eternity shall see the blessings and goodness of His love.

Blessed are those who follow Him, for they shall be brought to live forever within His kingdom.
