Much is expected of the priest or the teacher. They lead us in learning God's word. If the presenters of the word do not follow the word, how is it, then, that those who receive teaching, those who receive ministry, should believe what they receive?
Are not priests and teachers human? Are they not susceptible to sin just as we? Are we called to believe in a priest or teacher or are we called to believe in God?
The priest or teacher have chosen to spread God's word. They are part of the communication through which we learn of God's divine love and divine mercy. Would it not then follow that Satan would attack those who would spread the word of the Lord? Would it not be Satan's desire to cause the fall of those who would spread God's word?
If the priest or the teacher fail to follow the word of the Lord, does that mean we should lose our faith? This would be Satan's design.
We hear from the priest and teacher, but it is not the priest and the teacher that we follow. We follow the Lord our God. Should the priest or the teacher fall, we should not fall with them by judging them or turning from the word of the Lord. To do so places us with them and places us in the grasp of Satan.
We should pray for the priest, the teacher and all of God's children. We should pray that the teachers of the word of God be strong in the face of Satan's temptation. And if in their weakness, one should fail, we should not turn our back on them, we should forgive them just as our Lord is willing to forgive them. It is in forgiveness that we come closer to the spirit of the Lord.
And if one should fall, we must pray even harder for the remainder who would lead us against Satan's path, for those who would lead us towards the path of God, for those who lead us to hear the word of salvation. Alone, we cannot hope to withstand all the deceptions of Satan. Alone, we cannot hope to avoid the temptations of sin. Only in community can we hope to help each other. Only in community can we hope to understand God's word and the hope we have for salvation. By helping each other, we help ourselves.
Dear Lord, I pray that you give strength to the priest, the teacher, and all of us to withstand the attacks of Satan upon our spirit. I pray that you protect the priest, the teacher and all of us from the temptation of sin. And if one should fall, I pray that we demonstrate the same love, mercy, and forgiveness as we should hope to find within the grace and blessings of our Lord.

I agree with everything you say here. the congregation, the priests, all the members of Christs Body are targets of satan, and in our own way, we are called to spread the Word of God.
Might I add just one thing though?
Priests are ESPECIALLY the targets of satan because, when you attack the priests, you attack Christ's representative on earth. The devil does not want there to be any priests, because without priests, there would be no Sacraments. No confessions, no annointing of the sick, no holy orders, no confirmation, and especially NO EUCHARIST!!!
Plain and simple: attack priests, attack the eucharist, attack life, the Life that Jesus hidden in the Eucharist wants to give us.
We, as God's children, must fight the good fight, pray hard for our priests and for each other living in our community, that way, we ALL may rejoice in Heaven together with Jesus and the angels and the saints!
