Blessings to you,
This is a story I should have related many weeks ago. It continues to stir in my heart. It is an example of the good that is found in God's children. It is an example of the many ways in which God works.
It is a story about a day I was talking to an acquaintance about the challenges I was experiencing. It seemed that no matter which way I turned, I was faced with something that was going wrong. My concerns were mounting on every front. I was also worried about the economy, my job, and the seemingly never ending bad news about mounting national debt and other political issues. I could see nothing but challenges in my future and I was frustrated that I felt I was running out of solutions.
As I was concluding the conversation, a friend came up to me and told me, Kimi has a present for you. I'm sure I had a quizzical look on my face, because I did not know Kimi. I was taken over to where Kimi was sitting. As I saw her, I remembered that I had said, "Hi," to her in passing perhaps fifteen minutes earlier.
As I came over to greet her, she reached out to hand me a present. She had wrapped a small card in wrapping paper. On the wrapping it said, "To PrayerSoldier from Kimi." I suspect she had inquired as to my name from someone that knew me.
As I looked at the small wrapped card in my hand, just the thought a stranger would seek to brighten my day brought a smile to my face. It was a gift from a young woman to which I had only said, "Hi," in passing.
It took me a few moments to unwrap the card because it was taped rather well. As I looked at the card, I saw that it had a picture of a little puppy on it. The card was a small one, about the size of a business card, but it had a very powerful message to it. The card said, "Help me to remember Lord, that nothing is going to happen today that You and I can't handle together." It also said, "Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord is the rock eternal." Isaiah 26:4
I thanked Kimi for her gift. I told her she was so very right and I would have a good day because of her. Kimi looked at me and smiled and pointed upwards and said, "Because of the Lord."
I smiled back and said, "Because the Lord sent me you."
She looked at me and said, "Something told me I should come in here."
Kimi's gift and her words were another example to me that the Lord works in many ways, and today he sent me Kimi. The Lord wanted to remind me that he was there with me. The Lord wanted to remind me that He was by my side. The Lord sent me Kimi to deliver that message. The Lord sent me Kimi to bring a smile to my face.
When our heart is open to the Lord, he guides us to do good things for others. This day the Lord guided Kimi to me. I have no doubt that Kimi's heart is guided by the Lord.
I talked with Kimi for awhile. She had such an infectious smile. I had never met Kimi before, but she seemed to be such a happy person with such a bright and joyful outlook on life. As our conversation came to an end, I walked with Kimi to the door of the store. I told Kimi good-bye and wished her a good day. I held the door open for her as she maneuvered her electric chair through the opening.
I watched for a moment as Kimi drove her electric chair down the parking lot, then walked over to my truck. As I was walking, I was thinking of a special place where I could keep Kimi's card. I wanted to put it in a place that would remind me of the message Kimi delivered to me.
As I climbed in my truck, I looked at the cross clipped to my sun visor. I slipped the card just under the cross so it would be there every time I climbed in my truck. I thought, I wanted to show Kimi the special place I found for her card and to thank her once again for the sunshine she brought to my day. As I looked up, I saw her go around the corner of the building. I started my truck and drove in that direction, but as I turned the corner, I did not see Kimi.
This young woman only knew me from overhearing me. Through Kimi, God stretched His healing hand to me. I really appreciate Kimi for performing God's mission that day. I have never met Kimi before, but I suspect she has touched many lives. With something as simple as the gift of a small card, she deeply touched mine.
I wonder how many times God has sent Kimi into the lives of others? God knew I needed a reassuring hand. God sent me Kimi to do the mission of an angel.
Feeling blessed, I thanked the Lord for sending me Kimi to remind me that He is with me always. In that moment, I prayed, “Dear Lord, you are with me always, of whom should I be afraid.” The world has much to learn from Kimi, I know I was reminded much that day.
