In fear and despair the disciples gathered in hiding. With the death of their Lord upon the cross, darkness appeared to triumph. Many did not understand the prophesies which needed to be fulfilled. If death was not conquered, the world would have been left in darkness; but with the resurrection, the light of the world rose. The way was illuminated for those who would be sent to spread the good news of the Lord. In prayer we should offer thanks and praise for the light of truth spread to the corners of the world through the gospels. As one candle lights another, let each of us spread the light of the Word so that all might come to know the blessings of the Holy Spirit and the peace and truth of the Lord.
Dear Lord, we offer thanks and praise that You sent Your apostles to spread Your Word, seeking to bring the peace of Your love and the light of the Holy Spirit to the generations.
Dear Lord, we offer thanks and praise for the love you extend to all Your children and the love You ask them to spread to one another.
Dear Lord, we pray that Your children continue to come together in peace and love.
Dear Lord, we pray that the hearts of those who struggle with discerning the truth are filled with the Holy Spirit so that they are able to see through the deception of evil.
Dear Lord, we pray that You grant us the wisdom of the Holy Spirit that we are not deceived by deceptions wrapped in good intentions.
Dear Lord, though we are not worthy through our sin, we pray in thanks for Your forgiveness and the light You bring to the world.
Dear Lord, we pray that the deceptions of the culture of death are revealed so that all the people of the land are guided to the respect of life.
In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
Now when it was late that same day, the first of the week, and the doors were shut, where the disciples were gathered together, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them: Peace be to you. And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad, when they saw the Lord. He said therefore to them again: Peace be to you. As the Father sent me, I also send you. When he had said this, he breathed on them; and he said to them: Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained. (John 20:19-23)
May the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
