“Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will raise up a righteous shoot to David; As king he shall reign and govern wisely, he shall do what is just and right in the land.” (Jeremiah 23:5)
Those who govern have a choice, the choice to lead with justice and what is right or to lead with selfish intent and corruption. Some begin believing in the former, but are moved through weakness and temptation to the latter. Others begin, already consumed by evil. Some, however, remain true to the Word, good shepherds for the people who bring peace and prosperity to the land. The Lord blesses the good shepherd, but even the good shepherd is open to the temptations of the evil one. When any shepherd is turned away form the Lord, the evil one is served and the people of the land are left to suffer.
The Lord has compassion for the poor, their cries He hears, from evil He will deliver them, their souls He seeks to save. In this world, evil and oppressors may seem to prevail, but their time is limited, their dominion has no root, their ways are barren, what they sow shall whither, their illusions of power will be shattered, all will be taken from them and their soul will be left to darkness.
“Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the holy Spirit. Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man, yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly. Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,” which means “God is with us.” When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home. He had no relations with her until she bore a son, and he named him Jesus.” (Matthew 1:18-25)
The righteous king walked among them and some reached simply to touch the tassels of His cloak. He brought commandments for His people to love, not just the chosen ones, but all the children of the Lord. Had His message been heeded, peace would have been their inheritance, happiness would have been the blessings of their days, but many did not know what they did, His teaching fell on deaf ears, the few who understood were persecuted and the misguided led the others away from the truth.
The Lord is patient, slow to anger, quick to kindness; He watches His children with gladness when they pray in love, with sadness when they sin. To each one He offers salvation, but the choice is theirs. No one can be forced to make the choice, for even if one says to another, “I believe,” but if in their heart, no seed of Christ may be found, He will know.
The seed of Christ has been placed in every soul, but like any seed, it must be nourished to grow. The faith of others will provide it light, prayer will give it water, it will thrive in a forest which surrounds it with both light and water; and as it grows, it will provide light and water to nourish the seeds of others.
The seed is difficult to kill, for even in the most barren of hearts it may be revived. It requires but an encouraging hand; a warm smile with a drop of love, a spark of faith, the blessing of prayer; through the light of the love of God beaming through His children will the light fall upon the seeds of those resting in the darkest of souls. May the light of the love of the Lord spread like a wildfire to make bright the darkness so that all souls may see the path to heaven.
May the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
