As we look around us, in what do we trust? We trust what we can see, we trust what we can control, but faith requires us to trust in One who is not seen, yet, He is the creator of all that is visible and invisible. We are told the faithful will sing, “A strong city have we; He sets up walls and ramparts to protect us. Open up the gates to let in a nation that is just, one that keeps faith. A nation of firm purpose you keep in peace; in peace, for its trust in You.” (Isaiah 26:1-3)
God will bless the nations of the faithful, but He will hold to account those who do not keep the faith, those who are the unjust. “He humbles those in high places, and the lofty city he brings down; He tumbles it to the ground, levels it with the dust.” (Isaiah 26:5)
The strength of a nation starts with the strength of faith. The faith of a nation starts with the faith of each citizen. Through the strength of faith, we are blessed with the strength of the Lord. “Trust in the LORD forever! For the LORD is an eternal Rock.” (Isaiah 26:4)
Trust does not mean that we sit in idleness, else He would not have taught us as He did. Faith is not expressed merely by what passes the lips, but what we do which demonstrates our understanding. Through our belief in the One who was sacrificed for our sins, we will be saved, but we will not be saved merely by words. Jesus said to his disciples: “Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21)
We are called to take heed of that which Jesus sought to teach us and to take word to action, “Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.” (Matthew 7:24-25) What better way to express our faith than to live according to the Word. What better way to strengthen our soul than through faith in the good news of the coming of the Lord.
May the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
