Let Us Listen to the Prophets of Truth

Scripture:

Be comforted, be comforted, my people, says your God. Speak to the heart of Jerusalem, and call to her: for her evil is come to an end, her iniquity is forgiven: she has received of the hand of the Lord double for all her sins. The voice of one crying in the desert: Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight in the wilderness the paths of our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall become straight, and the rough ways plain. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh together shall see, that the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

Get you up upon a high mountain, you that brings good tidings to Sion: lift up your voice with strength, you that brings good tidings to Jerusalem: lift it up, fear not. Say to the cities of Juda: Behold your God: Behold the Lord God shall come with strength, and his arm shall rule: Behold his reward is with him and his work is before him. He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather together the lambs with his arm, and shall take them up in his bosom, and he himself shall carry them that are with young.
(Isaiah 40:1-5, 9-11)

But of this one thing be not ignorant, my beloved, that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord delays not his promise, as some imagine, but dealays patiently for your sake, not willing that any should perish, but that all should return to penance. But the day of the Lord shall come as a thief, in which the heavens shall pass away with great violence and the elements shall be melted with heat and the earth and the works which are in it shall be burnt up. Seeing then that all these things are to be dissolved, what manner of people ought you to be in holy conversation and godliness? Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of the Lord, by which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with the burning heat? But we look for new heavens and a new earth according to his promises, in which justice dwells. Wherefore, dearly beloved, waiting for these things, be diligent that you may be found before him unspotted and blameless in peace. (2 Peter 3:8-14)

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: Behold I send my angel before your face, who shall prepare the way before you. A voice of one crying in the desert: Prepare you the way of the Lord; make straight his paths. John was in the desert, baptizing and preaching the baptism of penance, unto remission of sins. And there went out to him all the country of Judea and all they of Jerusalem and were baptized by him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins. And John was clothed in hair of the camel, and a leather girdle about his loins: and he ate locusts and wild honey. And he preached, saying: There comes after me one mightier than I, the latches of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and loose. I have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit. ( Mark 1:1-18 )

Reflection:

In days of old, the coming of the Lord was fortold. Some prepare in anticipation while others are consumed with the distractions of the world. If we know a great reward awaits for those faithful to His Word, we would be fools to spend our time with any other concerns. Still, so many cannot focus while others do not believe the prophesies shared through the millinnea.

Though He has stood by generation after generation, leading them through trials and tribulations, each one which follows struggles with learning the lessons of the one before. Blessed are we for His patience, but still, we must seek to listen so we are not left in the dark when the gate to heaven is closed.

We have heard of days past where the Shepherd walked among us. We must also listen to the prophecy that He will come again to gather us in. He came to us to bring and teach us the Word. He now waits to see what meaning it has to the children of the generations. He now waits to see who listens. He now waits to see who learns. He now waits to see who heeds. He now waits to see who prepares. He now waits to see who believes in Him. He now waits to see who lives by their belief.

And so it has been told, He will come again in the glory of the Father to bring home to His kingdom the children of His creation. In prayer, let us prepare for Him. In prayer, let us ask Him to protect us from the distractions which lead to the ruin of souls. In prayer, let us listen to what He reveals to our heart. In prayer, let us seek from Him that to which He guides us.

Like children who feel the agony of waiting for minutes, we struggle impatiently with the passage of time. What seems forever to us is but a moment to the Sheherd of the millinnea. His patience is vast, where ours is weak. We expect in the same moments of our thought the fulfillment of our desires and the answers to all our prayers. We expect immediate rewards for doing what is right and just. We do not understand the moments where evil appears to go unpunished. We do not perceive how He sees all things. We do not comprehend that in His time, all prayers will be answered, the just shall be rewarded and the evil shall be held to account. Nothing under the heavens goes unnoticed by Him.

Though we have heard His Word, we struggle with its meaning, for we do not see what He sees. We know what has been promised, but we allow Satan to dangle temptations before us which fogs our sight and closes our ears to His voice. Our view is through a tarnished lens rather than the clarity of the sight of God. We see only what we desire of the world, not what He desires for us now and within His kingdom.

If we know the promise, yet struggle with our sin each day, we can only pray to Him that He will clean the sight of our eyes and guide us on the path which is straight. He has given us His prophets and inspired the writing of His Word. The receiving in our hearts is left to us. For us to truly know Him, we must spend time with Him in prayer. For us to truly know Him, we must spend time with His Word. For us to truly know Him, we must spend time seeking to fulfill His will; not through selfish pursuits, but through what He asks of us to love Him and to care for one another. As we turn our concerns to His ways, the concerns of the world will fade away. Let us not desire what will pass to dust, but let us desire what is of Him. In prayer, let us open our heart to where He guides our soul.

It was foretold and it came to pass; the coming of the Lord. The prophet heralded the news and generations later, one was born from the womb to be the voice in the desert; the voice of which the prophet had said would cry out. Let us, then, listen to the prophets of truth. Let us, then, listen to the Word. Let us, then, invite Him into our hearts so we may not be deceived by the false prophets commissioned by the evil one to seek the ruin of souls. His truth has been revealed; therefore, let us prepare for His day. Let us be blessed with the baptism of which the voice in the desert prohesied. Let us be blessed with the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

May the peace and blessings of the Lord be with you always,
Prayer Soldier
